About The Position

Illinois Tool Works Inc. (NYSE: ITW) is a global Fortune 200 diversified manufacturing company. The ITW StampTech Fastener TM Division serves the major OEMs and Tier suppliers in the North American automotive market, supplying stamped metal fasteners and engineered fastener assemblies. This position is based in our Portland, TN facility and is for the 3rd shift.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to use calipers, micrometers, indicators, thickness gages, thread gages, optical comparator, vision measurement system, torque testers, force testers, and Rockwell hardness tester
  • 1-2 years in manufacturing environment with preference of quality assurance experience
  • Experience with operating a forklift
  • Great organizational and time management abilities
  • Attention to detail
  • Effectively communicate in a professional demeanor when dealing with the public or any level of employees
  • Ability to safely work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
  • Ability to write simple correspondence
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
  • Ability to work in a team environment or independently
  • Ability to work overtime

Nice To Haves

  • ASQ certification preferred
  • Technical school preferred
  • Experience with quality management software preferred
  • Ability to convert measurements between units preferred

Responsibilities

  • First article inspections, in-process testing, final and receiving inspections
  • Use and knowledge of hand gages used for inspection such as calipers, micrometers, thickness gages, and thread gages
  • Use of optical comparators, vision measurement systems or CMM experience
  • Use of testing equipment for torque, force, and rockwell hardness
  • Use of Measurlink software (SPC charts, X-Bar R Charts, Histograms, Control limits, etc)
  • Basic computer skills will be necessary (Microsoft Excel, Word, Email, etc.)
  • Blueprint reading and the basic understanding of GD&T
  • Familiarity with ISO/TS16949 & ISO/IEC 17025 requirements
  • Participate in the training of production employees as needed
  • Perform 5S
  • Documenting defects and recommendations for improvement (Rejection control report)
  • Follow all rules, regulations and work processes set forth by the company
  • Hold self-accountable to create and maintain a safe working environment
  • Competently perform all tasks with a focus on safety within a fast-paced environment
  • Contributes to team effort by focusing on continuous improvement and success for the entire team
  • Cross-train with department co-workers to increase the knowledge, flexibility, and efficiency of the overall ITW team
