About The Position

The Quality Assurance Technician ensures that finished products meet quality standards and proper process control measures are in place and audited frequently. This position reviews, approves and releases finished goods for shipment. The Quality Assurance Technician manages the disposition of non-conforming materials and maintains accurate and complete records. This person also evaluates complaint samples returned by consumers. This position does not have personnel management responsibilities and reports to the Manager Quality Assurance. The normal shift is 40 hours per week in the office with periodic extended hours as needed. This position may be assigned other duties as determined by the Supervisor.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associates in a Science related field or equivalent years of experience preferred.
  • Prior experience with ISO 9001 or similar quality programs preferred
  • ASQ Quality Auditor, Manager of Quality, or similar certification is a plus
  • Solid understanding of Quality programs including ISO standards
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Accuracy in the work generated
  • Self-starter, able to work and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
  • General awareness of the ISO9001 Quality Management System requirements, company Quality Policy and your contributions to the effectiveness of the QMS
  • Responsible for being knowledgeable of and acting in strict accordance with the requirements of all relevant laws, regulations, and Company policies, including, among other areas, Food and Drug Administration regulations
  • Computer literate with keyboarding skills and intermediate skills in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Follow and ensure compliance with quality system and GMP programs
  • Perform all necessary testing/inspection on raw materials, in-process materials, and finished goods documenting findings
  • Review batch records for completeness and accuracy and ensure that Current Good Manufacturing Practices were followed.
  • Audits for proper final packaging quality. Such observations include, but are not limited to pouch alignment, glue patterns on boxes, tape patterns on boxes, and packaging seals.
  • Use good time management and decision-making skills to assist key personnel to resolve or minimize out-of-specification conditions and foreign substance contamination of raw materials, in-process, and finished products.
  • Collect in-process and finished product samples.
  • Maintain lab equipment, such as scales/balance, moisture analyzer, and package leak detectors.
  • Operational understanding of manufacturing processes and ability to assist when needed.
  • Additional duties/special projects as assigned by management.
