About The Position

This position is for a Quality Assurance Supervisor within the AIMD Program located in Kingsville, TX. The role involves promoting and implementing the Vertex Quality Management Philosophy, maintaining liaison with various stakeholders, conducting quality audits, and managing maintenance and material defect information. The supervisor will also review technical publications, evaluate processes for improvement, establish quality controls, and ensure compliance with contractual requirements. Key responsibilities include performing quality reviews of contract changes, managing the Technical Data Management Officer role, monitoring trend analysis programs, investigating customer complaints, establishing technical task forces, and ensuring familiarity with ISO 9000 standards. The role also includes planning training, monitoring staff performance, exhibiting positive behavior, assisting co-workers, managing safety procedures, providing technical assistance to QA personnel, reviewing various reports for discrepancies, coordinating with IT for data analysis, ensuring compliance with Tool Control and FOD Prevention Programs, maintaining liaison with other maintenance activities, monitoring contract compliance through audits, ensuring timely submission of deficiency reports, providing monthly data reports, ensuring compliance with safety rules, ensuring maintenance instructions and checklists are current, and coordinating with the Madison PMO. The position requires maintaining high ethical standards and may involve other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • In-depth knowledge of Maintenance and Quality Assurance procedures.
  • Thorough knowledge of aircraft components, accessories, and support equipment under AIMD’s charge.
  • In-depth knowledge of applicable company, government maintenance/technical manuals, publications, technical directives, safety procedures, support equipment, and special tools.
  • Ability to research, read, and interpret drawings.
  • Ability to write with clarity and technical accuracy.
  • Thorough knowledge of applicable contractual requirements.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years aircraft maintenance experience, three (3) years of which must have been in a supervisory capacity.
  • Working knowledge of the ISO 9000-2000 Quality System Standards.
  • Extensive working knowledge of aircraft maintenance and flight operations gained through broad management experience in the oversight and management of aviation programs.
  • Ability to communicate accurately and concisely on technical matters, both orally and in writing.
  • Necessary leadership and management skills to direct Quality Assurance personnel to comply with established policies, procedures, and operations.
  • In-depth knowledge of contractual programs, company organization, policies and procedures.
  • Must meet any other qualification standards imposed by the government contract not covered by this agreement.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
  • Must be able to work weekends, other shifts and overtime as required.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and Company Proprietary data.
  • Must adhere to Company policies/procedures and management instruction.

Responsibilities

  • Promote, implement, and monitor the Vertex Quality Management Philosophy throughout the AIMD program.
  • Maintain daily liaison with the Site Managers, Government team members, and on-site personnel to address issues relative to the Quality Assurance Program.
  • Determine the level and type of quality audits needed through daily statistical analysis of problem areas.
  • Provide a systematic and efficient method of gathering, analyzing, and maintaining information on maintenance and material defects that impact the AIMD Program production effort.
  • Review incoming technical publications and directives to determine their application to the Maintenance Department and the AIMD Program as a whole.
  • Evaluate existing methods, procedures, and/or systems for any potential process improvements or cost savings.
  • Establish necessary controls to ensure the quality procedures apply to the program and ensure the production of acceptable end products meets and/or exceeds customer specifications and contractual requirements.
  • Review contract requirements and Performance Work Statement (PWS) to ensure compliance with quality standards, as required.
  • Perform quality review of any proposed contract changes, modifications, and sub-contracts to ensure compliance.
  • Perform as the Technical Data Management Officer and provide oversight of the Central Technical Publications Library.
  • Monitor the trend analysis program for the AIMD program to identify adverse trends and take action to correct any adverse trends identified.
  • Investigate and take action on ALL customer complaints regarding quality.
  • Establish a technical task forces to investigate trouble areas and provide recommendations for corrective action to the Site Managers.
  • Be familiar with ISO 9000 Quality System Standards.
  • Plan, promote, and organize training activities related to program quality and reliability.
  • Monitor the performance of assigned staff under the AIMD program to ensure compliance with established standards.
  • Exhibit positive courteous behavior with customers, businesses, and co-workers.
  • Assist co-workers and those in other departments to successfully perform job tasks and functions when necessary.
  • Manage all safety procedures and practices as established by the Company and regulatory bodies.
  • Provide technical assistance to Quality Assurance Supervisors/Representatives and production personnel who are required to make QA decisions. Periodically accompany QAR’s on inspections to monitor and evaluate their performance.
  • Review NALCOMIS Reports/Inquiries, MAFs, WOs, DRs, and hazard reports for discrepancy trends and specific problem areas.
  • Coordinate with the DBA/SA to develop discrepancy trends and applicable charts and graphs necessary that depict quality performance. Provide assistance in determining root cause of sub-standard performance and develop recommendations for improvement.
  • Ensure QAR’s are briefing contractor and field maintenance teams on the Tool Control and FOD Prevention Program requirements. Report discrepancies to the TCP and FOD Prevention Program managers.
  • Establish and maintain liaison with other maintenance and rework activities to obtain information for improving maintenance techniques, quality of workmanship, and QA procedures.
  • Monitor contract compliance by all maintenance activities through the audit and surveillance requirements as defined in the Quality Assurance Procedures Manual.
  • Ensure Product Quality Deficiency Reports, Hazardous Material Reports, Technical Publications Deficiency Reports, and Explosive Mishap Reporting are submitted as required.
  • Provide site Quality Assurance Monthly Data Report to Program/Site Manager.
  • Ensure compliance with all established general and industrial safety rules, and regulations as applicable to the contract, facility, and job assignment.
  • Ensure all Maintenance Instructions (MI), Checklists (CL), and Quality Procedures (QP) are complete and current prior to distribution.
  • Provide communications and coordination for the site with the Madison PMO as required.
  • Maintain the highest ethical personal and professional standards.
  • May be required to perform other reasonably related supervisory projects, initiatives or managerial duties as assigned or when directed.
