About The Position

The Starbucks Roasting Plants have a dedicated team of professional roasters and supporting process teams including planning, warehouse management, packaging, roasting, maintenance, engineering and logistics. As a Quality Assurance Supervisor, you will assess the quality of daily production through review and analysis of documentation and data, ensuring compliance with internal and regulatory quality guidelines. You will support and/or lead the implementation and maintenance of Quality Assurance programs, including food safety plans, food defense plans, quality management systems, and food safety and quality training programs. You will work with other departments in reviewing Work Instructions to ensure they adhere to current GMPs, regulatory requirements, and all internal and external food safety audits and certifications. You will serve as the plant quality assurance manager back-up for food safety and quality decision making. You will work cross-functionally to ensure effective and timely communication of company, plant, and department information, standards, objectives, and goals. You will create a cohesive, positive, and clean work environment by providing guidance, performance feedback, and coaching to leads and partners. You will educate and consult with plant leadership, peers, and manufacturing partners in coffee quality, food safety programs, and related issues. You will serve as a technical expert and coach for team members and support partners in presenting ideas for improving the efficiency and productivity of operations. You will operate within established budgets, forecasts, cost objectives, and service levels to control expenses and support the implementation of cost, quality, and service improvement initiatives. You will maintain product quality through adherence to good manufacturing practices, Food Safety Preventive Controls, product specifications, and quality procedures. You will demonstrate and understand safety as our core value and follow the key essentials to safety as set forth by our safety resolution, reinforcing and coaching others to do the same. You will understand and follow established safety guidelines, consistently complying with all safety procedures (e.g., PPE, Lock Out Tag Out). You will act as a safety change agent (e.g., CPR/First Aid certification; active engagement in safety committee, drives safety initiatives for department). You will support food safety, legality, and quality programs. You will monitor and document quality measures using analytical tools. You will perform other duties as needed in support of business objectives and Starbucks Mission & Values.

Requirements

  • Quality assurance experience (5 years)
  • Auditing and monitoring of raw materials, packaging, and finished goods specification compliance (2 years)
  • Food manufacturing and / or laboratory management experience (2 years)
  • Hazard Assessment and Critical Control Points (HACCP) and Food Safety Plan / PCQI experience (2 years)
  • Review and summarize quality assurance records and metrics. (2 years)
  • Auditing raw materials and finished goods (2 years)
  • Laboratory (2 years)
  • High School diploma/GED, US military service or equivalent.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to lead and train others, solve problems and make timely decisions
  • Analytical, systems-thinking skills
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite.
  • Knowledge of food technology, food microbiology, safe food handling procedures and food service sanitation practices
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), FSMA, Quality Management Systems, and HACCP principles
  • Ability to conduct quality assurance system audits, generate summary of findings, and approve CAPA plans
  • Ability to plan, develop, monitor and verify Quality System programs and processes
  • Ability to work with a diverse team environment
  • Ability to work in accordance with safety, quality and sanitation standards, policies and procedures
  • Ability to work variable shifts to support business needs
  • Develop others and ensure training and learning of team members

Responsibilities
