About The Position

Reporting to the Plant Quality Assurance Manager, we are looking for a Quality Assurance Supervisor to join and lead our team and programs. You will partner closely with QA, production, sanitation, maintenance, procurement, scheduling, and plant leadership as you drive program execution and support continuous improvement. You will work directly with sampling, testing, hold-and-release processes, laboratory programs, pest control, and documentation management. You will lead and support a QA team across multiple shifts, fostering accountability, consistency, and a strong food safety culture. This is a fast-paced manufacturing environment where priorities can shift quickly. You will be expected to make timely decisions, stay calm under pressure, and take ownership of outcomes that directly impact product quality and business performance. This is an onsite role based in Brampton, working a standard 40-hour week. While core hours are typically daytime, this role supports all shifts and requires flexibility, including occasional early mornings, evenings, or weekend support, as well as availability for off-hours calls when needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or a related field, or equivalent technical training that supports strong comprehension of food safety and quality systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret standards, measurements, and documented processes relevant to food production environments.
  • Comfort supporting a multi-shift operation and being available for occasional off-hours support when required.
  • Hands-on plant experience in the food industry, including exposure to supervisory or leadership responsibilities.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced manufacturing setting and managing shifting priorities.
  • Strong knowledge of HACCP, GMPs, allergen management, pasteurisation, BRCGS or other GFSI programs, and applicable food safety regulations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and quality data management systems.
  • Ability to conduct, document, and interpret in-process checks, support investigations, and contribute to corrective and preventive actions.
  • Ability to navigate documentation, specifications, and production records with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Comfort working with data, tracking KPIs, and using tools like Excel to support reporting, trending, and decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the QA team, overseeing a team across multiple shifts, providing direction, coaching, and support. Foster accountability, consistency, and a strong food safety culture while addressing performance, training, and day-to-day team needs.
  • Lead program implementation, taking ownership of implementing key food safety and quality programs. Identify required resources, determine next steps, and drive completion. Follow up on meetings and action items to ensure every element of each program is fully in place.
  • Ensure consistent program execution by maintaining accurate documentation and overseeing the day-to-day execution of food safety and quality procedures. Verify program completion, monitor status, and recommend updates or improvements where needed.
  • Verify production compliance by monitoring production activities to confirm adherence to HACCP, GMP, allergen control, sanitation standards, and contract packaging requirements. Conduct routine inspections, perform in-process checks, and investigate issues directly on the floor.
  • Manage sampling, testing, and product release by overseeing sampling and product testing to ensure materials meet all specifications prior to shipment. Supervise team members responsible for hold-and-release and product disposition, validate documentation accuracy, and ensure timely release decisions.
  • Oversee laboratory and support programs, ensuring laboratory programs are executed consistently and meet required standards. Support pest control, hold logs, and other quality monitoring programs that ensure plant-wide compliance.
  • Investigate and resolve quality issues by documenting non-conformances, complaints, and deviations. Conduct investigative follow-up, support root cause analysis, and contribute to corrective and preventive actions. Assess risk, understand severity, and make timely decisions to resolve issues, escalating when appropriate.
  • Manage reporting and escalation by acting as a key contact for quality concerns and communicating program status to the Plant QA Manager. Track KPIs, analyze trends, and prepare reports to support decision-making and communicate insights to cross-functional teams.
  • Support audits and inspections by preparing documentation, verifying plant readiness, and supporting regulatory, third-party, and customer audits. Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure requirements are met and findings are addressed.
  • Coordinate cross-functionally by working closely with operations, sanitation, maintenance, and procurement teams to align on program requirements. Use strong judgment to prioritize tasks, resolve issues, and keep programs moving forward.
  • Support the QA team by serving as a backup to the Plant QA Manager and QA Coordinators as required, ensuring continuity of quality operations.
