About The Position

Labcorp is seeking a Quality Assurance Specialist to join their team at their facility in RTP, NC. This role involves reviewing quality control data, troubleshooting issues, maintaining accurate documentation, and assisting with process improvement initiatives. The specialist will also perform technical and non-technical testing, manage supplies, ensure equipment maintenance, and participate in change control projects. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology
  • 1-2 years of clinical laboratory testing experience or in a quality related position
  • General knowledge of laboratory regulations (CAP/CLIA/ISO) and licensing requirements
  • Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures
  • Experience working in a high volume laboratory environment
  • Basic understanding of audit related requirements and procedures
  • Working knowledge of quality assurance best practices and procedures
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems
  • High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
  • Able to pass a standardized color blindness test

Nice To Haves

  • 3 months or more of experience in a clinical laboratory
  • Non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may meet education requirements
  • Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs

Responsibilities

  • Reviews quality control data with identifying trends, problems, and accuracy of data.
  • Troubleshoots, provides accurate solutions and resolves problems/issues.
  • Reviews outlier results and QA exception reports completely, accurately and within required timeframes.
  • Maintains complete, accurate and up to date documents such as logs, reports, worksheets, and paperwork such that the information can be accessed immediately or in a timely manner.
  • Develops QA procedures and documentation that is complete, accurate and can easily be understood by end users.
  • Assists with Process Improvement/Quality Improvement Initiatives.
  • Assists in QA plan review and prepares updated reports completely, accurately, and within required timeframes.
  • Performs administrative support duties (e.g. maintains records, generates and/or sends reports and communications, maintains databases, enters data, answers phones, files, etc.) completely, accurately, and within established time frames.
  • Performs required Lean Activities (5S, etc.) according to established expectations.
  • Routinely performs technical and non-technical high complexity testing according to established standard operating procedures and protocols.
  • Maintains adequate stock of working supplies.
  • Notifies Supervisor or Lab Manager of any shortages.
  • Ensure that preventive maintenance and calibration schedules are adhered to for optimal performance of equipment.
  • Able to perform preventive maintenance and quality control on instrumentation.
  • Participates in change control projects and assists with validations.
  • Helps submit and complete quality events in the Document Control system.
