About The Position

Gelest, Inc., part of the Mitsubishi Chemical Group, is hiring a Quality Assurance Specialist to join our team in Morrisville, PA. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to our mission of delivering innovative specialty chemical solutions to customers worldwide. The Quality Assurance Specialist supports the effectiveness and continuous improvement of the Gelest Quality System through quality system oversight, auditing, evaluation of non-conformances, and corrective action management. The role applies technical knowledge and independent judgment to assess quality and compliance requirements, identify improvement opportunities, and collaborate cross-functionally to strengthen quality processes and operational performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Quality Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent specialized education and industry experience required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to understand and comply with company policies and procedures.
  • Ability to effectively plan, prioritize, organize, and implement work activities.
  • Ability to balance team and individual responsibilities and include stakeholders in decision making.
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner, developing alternative solutions.
  • Ability to react professionally under pressure and to treat others with respect and consideration.
  • Ability to prepare clear, accurate reports and effectively conduct quality audits.
  • Ability to interpret the ISO-9001 standard and apply to the company quality system.
  • Ability to work within Gelest Quality System and develop quality procedures.

  • Ability to observe safety and security procedures and report potentially unsafe conditions.
  • Ability to maintain regular and reliable attendance in accordance with established work schedules.

Nice To Haves

  • Degree/Certification in six sigma and lean manufacturing or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Training in Quality Management or equivalent experience.
  • Technical writing skills.
  • Training as an internal or lead auditor.

Responsibilities

  • Host customer audits and prepare corrective actions to findings and observations.
  • Plan and conduct internal audits of the Gelest Quality System, independently evaluating findings, compliance risks and recommend corrective actions.
  • Independently evaluate quality non-conformances analyze root-causes and supporting technical data, and manage the non-conformance/corrective action system.
  • Attend meetings of the Quality Systems Steering Team (QSST) and fulfill responsibilities.
  • Review/sign new batch records.
  • Aid in the development of continuous improvement activities.
  • Ensure customer requests related to quality are sent to the appropriate parties and follow up to ensure completion.
  • Manage records and archive files.
  • Maintain ISO 9001 compliance for certification.
  • Assist in the development and execution of six sigma and lean manufacturing projects.
  • Perform statistical and mathematical data analysis related to continuous improvement projects
