About The Position

Venture Dynamics is hiring a Quality Assurance Specialist – NDT to perform quality assurance inspections and non-destructive testing aboard vessels supporting ship repair operations. This position inspects structural, piping, and welding work for compliance with applicable specifications, drawings, procedures, and quality requirements. The role requires hands-on NDT experience and knowledge of shipboard structures, welding processes, and quality assurance systems. Assignments are project-based and may continue based on performance and contract demand, with the potential for long-term placement or permanent hire with select clients.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two years of related technical experience.
  • Documentation supporting qualification requirements for VT, PT, UT, and MT non-destructive testing methods.
  • Must meet Level II requirements in at least three NDT testing techniques.
  • Knowledge of shipboard structures and systems.
  • Proficiency in blueprint reading and interpretation and quality assurance systems.
  • Ability to operate or learn applicable inspection equipment, including magnetic yokes, ultrasonic equipment, magnifiers, machinist's rules, Bridge Cam gauges, and fillet gauges.
  • Strong organizational, communication, interpersonal, and documentation skills.

Nice To Haves

  • ASNT certification.
  • Previous NDT experience in the ship repair industry.
  • Documented ultrasonic testing experience.
  • Knowledge of welding processes.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Responsibilities

  • Perform quality assurance audits and inspections of welding, fitting, and pipefitting work to verify compliance with approved procedures, materials, processes, drawings, and technical instructions.
  • Perform non-destructive testing on structural and piping components in accordance with applicable NAVSEA specifications, blueprints, and work procedures.
  • Conduct VT, PT, MT, and UT inspections, including structural and piping fit-up and final weld inspections as required.
  • Schedule and conduct preliminary and final NDT checkpoints and document inspection findings and test results.
  • Observe subcontractor NDT inspections and review applicable welding and NDT procedures for compliance.
  • Record, organize, and evaluate test results and prepare accurate NDT and quality assurance inspection reports.
  • Maintain NDT equipment and verify proper calibration before performing inspections.
  • Coordinate with production and project personnel to identify workmanship concerns and support resolution of quality issues.
