About The Position

Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a Quality Assurance Specialist 2 to support NASA Safety and Mission Assurance (S&MA) by performing Quality Assurance inspections to ensure compliance with specifications. This role requires a high school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 5 years of education or experience in inspection or a related field. The specialist will be PC literate, possess good verbal and written communication skills, and be able to interpret verbal and written instructions. Proficiency in operating test and measurement equipment and tools, along with knowledge of inspection techniques and methods, is essential. The ability to work as a team player with various disciplines is also crucial. Experience in avionics and/or hardware/software integration, or process controls, as well as familiarity with manufacturing/test functions and the ability to interpret drawings, is required. Previous experience with NASA quality inspections is also necessary. Positions at this level require a foundation of basic skills and underlying knowledge, typically acquired through appropriate experience in inspection, manufacturing, auditing, maintenance, or similar work. This foundation includes skill in interpreting technical data, data analysis, report writing, drawings, interpreting regulations and other guideline material and a practical understanding of the role of quality assurance. Requires a high school degree or its equivalent and normally possesses 5 years of experience in quality assurance principles or as a Technician. Knowledgeable of the assurance of quality for all phases of the mission life-cycle including design, procurement, manufacturing, auditing, assembly, testing, and operations. Knowledgeable with the basic quality assurance procedures and techniques, pertinent regulations and program requirements and quality management systems. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Perform Quality Assurance inspections to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Perform inspections of mechanical, electrical, and electronic subsystems.
  • Inspect components during fabrication, installation, assembly, testing, modifications, or repairs.
  • Perform product verification via Mandatory Inspection Points and Government Mandatory Inspection Points.
  • May perform receiving inspection on test articles, and test support equipment.
  • Documents discrepancies for facilities and hardware.
  • Witness assembly of hardware and facility/test buildup.
  • Witness and verify technician workmanship.
  • Witness test build-up configuration and tests.
  • Verify contamination control requirements.
  • Adheres to published safety procedures.
  • Flexibility on task assignments is necessary to ensure proper floor coverage for Quality Assurance team.
  • Maintain high standard of performance in complex assignments without direct supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to make good judgment decisions relative to routine quality requirements, methods, and procedures.
