About The Position

GDIT is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical Inspector to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical inspection, with a focus on precision measurement and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T). As a Mechanical Inspector, you will be responsible for ensuring all mechanical components meet the highest standards of quality and precision. You will use a variety of precision measuring tools to verify that parts conform to specifications and will work closely with our engineering and production teams to identify and address any quality issues.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • 3+ years of related experience.
  • Proficiency in using precision measuring tools, including but not limited to calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, surface plates, and optical comparators.
  • Strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • US Citizenship Required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with FAROARM CMM systems or similar technologies and familiarity with PolyWorks software a strong plus.
  • Machinist experience is highly valued and encouraged to apply.
  • Welding experience is highly valued and encouraged to apply.
  • NDT experience and/or certifications are a strong plus.
  • Raw material mill certification verification experience a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough inspections of mechanical components to ensure compliance with engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Use precision measuring tools to verify dimensions, tolerances, and surface finishes.
  • Document inspection results and generate detailed reports.
  • Communicate effectively with engineering, production, and quality teams to resolve any discrepancies.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance inspection processes.
