About The Position

The Quality Assurance (QA) Manager is responsible for maintaining, and continuously improving the Quality Assurance Program to ensure compliance with applicable nuclear, regulatory, customer, and company requirements. The QA Manager provides independent oversight of quality activities and has the authority to identify quality issues, initiate corrective actions, verify implementation and effectiveness, stop work when necessary, and prevent the use or shipment of nonconforming items. The QA Manager reports administratively to the Branch Operations Manager for HR and payroll purposes and reports functionally and technically to the Performance Excellence Director for all quality matters. The QA Manager has direct access to the President for the resolution of significant quality concerns that cannot be resolved through normal channels and shall remain independent from cost and schedule pressures that could adversely affect quality.

Requirements

  • Candidates must possess a minimum of five (5) years of technical experience in engineering, manufacturing, construction, operations, maintenance, quality assurance, quality management, supplier quality, distribution, or related technical functions. A combination of education, certifications, military service, and relevant work experience will be considered.
  • Candidates must possess a minimum of five years of experience in quality assurance, quality management, supplier quality, engineering, manufacturing, distribution, or related technical functions.
  • Candidates must demonstrate the ability to understand and apply technical requirements, procedures, specifications, codes, standards, and quality program requirements.
  • A working knowledge of quality auditing principles, corrective action systems, supplier qualification, document control, and quality records management is required.
  • The position also requires a strong understanding of traceability, procurement controls, contract review, nonconformance management, and continuous improvement principles, along with excellent written, verbal, analytical, and organizational skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting nuclear, aerospace, defense, energy, or other highly regulated industries is preferred.
  • Candidates with Lead Auditor certification or an equivalent auditing qualification are highly desirable.
  • Professional certifications such as ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence (CMQ/OE), or equivalent credentials are preferred.
  • Experience with commercial-grade dedication, supplier audits, and nuclear procurement requirements is also desirable, along with experience implementing, maintaining, or auditing ISO 9001 quality management systems.

Responsibilities

  • Administer, maintain, and improve the Quality Assurance Program in compliance with NQA-1, 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, ASME NCA, ANSI N45.2, ISO 9001, DOE O 414.1D, customer requirements, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain control of Quality Procedures, Technical Procedures, Document Control processes, and Quality Records.
  • Ensure effective implementation of quality requirements throughout all applicable operations, procurement, warehousing, inspection, testing, and distribution activities.
  • Review customer contracts, purchase orders, specifications, codes, and technical requirements to determine quality program applicability and required quality controls.
  • Qualify, evaluate, monitor, and periodically re-evaluate suppliers; maintain the Approved Supplier List (ASL); and ensure supplier oversight activities are performed as required.
  • Ensure commercial-grade items are properly dedicated for nuclear service in accordance with NQA-1 Subpart 2.14, 10 CFR 50 Appendix B Criteria III and VII, and applicable procurement and dedication requirements.
  • Plan, conduct, manage, or oversee internal audits, supplier audits, surveillances, and assessments to verify compliance and program effectiveness.
  • Ensure auditors are trained, qualified, independent, and maintained in accordance with applicable requirements.
  • Administer the corrective action program, including the identification, documentation, investigation, resolution, trending, and verification of effectiveness for nonconformances, deficiencies, and adverse quality conditions.
  • Review and approve quality records, certifications, inspection documentation, dedication packages, and objective evidence prior to release when required.
  • Support customer audits, regulatory inspections, source inspections, and qualification assessments.
  • Monitor quality performance metrics, analyze trends, identify risks, and recommend improvements to management.
  • Promote a strong nuclear safety culture emphasizing procedural compliance, quality, accountability, traceability, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure professionalism and exceptional customer service during all interactions.
  • Regular and sustained attendance.
  • Adherence to Associate Handbook and other relevant Company policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
