About The Position

Pacific Coast Producers (PCP), a growing agricultural cooperative with food production facilities across the West Coast, is seeking an experienced and innovative Quality Assurance (QA) Manager to join its team at its Production Facility in Oroville, CA. PCP is dedicated to investing in its people and fostering a culture of service. Our Oroville facility produces pears, peaches, fruit cocktails, and employs 169 full-time workers year-round and a seasonal work force of over 1,200. The QA Manager plays a crucial role in maintaining our Food Safety and Quality programs in line with GFSI standards, requiring a deep understanding of food safety regulations, quality systems, third-party audits, and crisis management. This position demands a highly self-motivated individual with exceptional communication skills to convey technical information effectively, ensuring value and efficiency. The ideal candidate should excel in a team environment, seamlessly interacting across departments to promote continuous improvement and goodwill while minimizing conflict.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality assurance within a food manufacturing environment, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Quality Management, or a related field.
  • HACCP certification through a recognized HACCP certification program.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and an ability to meet established deadlines.
  • Demonstrate good leadership skills and an ability to work effectively with others.
  • Proficiency with general computer skills (Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Available to work evenings and weekends during our pack season (June to December)

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of food safety, food regulatory compliance, cGMPs, statistical process control programs, food manufacturing processes, quality control, product grading, and analytical testing.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and manage quality control systems designed to ensure continuous production of high-quality products consistent with established standards, customer specifications, and production goals.
  • Supervise and mentor a team of quality assurance professionals, including training and guidance to ensure they are well-equipped to perform their duties effectively.
  • Coordinate the Food Safety Program including the HACCP process to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations related to food safety and quality
  • Stay current with industry standards and implement necessary changes to meet these standards.
  • Continuously analyze the effectiveness of quality control processes and implement improvements as needed.
  • Communicate with customers regarding quality assurance matters and respond to customer feedback.
  • Regularly review and verify quality documentation for accuracy and compliance.
  • Compile and analyze data to produce distribution, sales, and production reports.
  • Perform studies on product longevity, process validation, quality verification and related activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
