About The Position

Quality Assurance Lead Job Description POSITION SCOPE: National contract packaging company who lives and breathes a culture of daily innovation, excitement, sense of urgency and passion for being multiple steps above the rest is seeking a Quality Assurance Lead with at least 3+ years’ experience in a similar industry. The Quality Lead is a critical factor in the success of our organization. They bridge the gap between Quality and Production, aligning expectations and ensuring achievement of facility goals. They should always be a culture warrior and constantly promote the 3Q mentality through leading by example in their facilities and community. It is the Quality Leader’s responsibility to meet the established expectations and tasks set forth by senior Quality Leadership and local facility General Manager. An overall summary of these can be found below . This is not an all-inclusive list of tasks to be completed. It is a list of activities proven to make a quality department successful and are therefore required responsibilities for the Quality Leader. Additional tasks may be assigned at any time by their supervisor(s).

Requirements

  • at least 3+ years’ experience in a similar industry
  • Must be able to complete QA paperwork accurately.
  • Ability to work on a regular and reliable basis and work overtime as weekends as needed.
  • Must be computer proficient in Microsoft Suite - Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Detail oriented and the ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities with excellent time management.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills must maintain a positive attitude and the ability to motivate team members.
  • 4+ years of relative packaging or production experience with indication of leadership skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support facility Safety Committee activities as a member of the team.
  • Maintain a current and accurate SDS information for all items in facility.
  • Make sure inspections are being done with fire extinguishers and eye wash stations.
  • Responsible for the onboarding of QA Technician staffing including instructing and training on procedures and methods used to inspect, monitor, and audit processes and finished goods.
  • Ensures the required quality personnel is available to perform inspections for every production line operating on every shift.
  • Conducts routine training of Quality Technicians to maintain consistent enforcement of Quality Programs.
  • Ensures that all training records are completed and retained in accordance with procedure.
  • Supports and may conduct annual SOP/GMP/GDP training for all FTE and long-term Staffing Associates.
  • Conducts all SOP revision trainings with affected departments.
  • Supports schedules and helps direct activities of hourly sanitation personnel, ensuring proper documentation of daily, weekly, monthly, and biannual activities (COR.EQ.01 forms) is being created and retained.
  • Supports compliance with pest control SOP, including managing external contractors or in-house monitoring.
  • Approves schedules and directing activities of hourly inspection personnel involved in in-process and final inspection.
  • Effectively provide input to QA Management and work proactively to attain continual improvement within the department.
  • Assist as needed in providing information required to complete CAPA investigations.
  • Generates daily QA inspection forms and ensuring all production records are reviewed and approved in a timely manner (not to exceed 2 days).
  • Communicate with members of management in Operations, Account Management, Inventory, and Warehouse on a regular basis to report quality data and receive feedback from the various departments to provide the best quality product possible.
  • Responsible for systematically placing items on hold and removing same when necessary in accordance with procedures and communicating all items placed on hold to quality/facility leadership.
  • Maintains a current and accurate Hold Log at all times.
  • Responsible for communicating quality defects directly to facility managements.
  • Ensures all non-conforming materials are tagged and staged in designated areas.
  • Assist alongside the Quality Manager to oversee all tasks required for recall success.
  • Monitors staffing associates with personnel issues and concerns including attendance policy.
  • Supports annual performance evaluations for direct reports as required for Staffing associates.
  • Training employees and supports developing personal growth opportunities.
  • Resolve and escalate conflicts that may arise exhibiting good judgment to ensure that parties involved are treated fairly.
  • Participates in customer and regulatory audits as required.
  • Conducts or assists in internal audits as needed.
  • Participates in quarterly food safety meetings, documenting and retaining files properly (when required).
  • Supports all HACCP Plans and Vulnerability assessments are completed annually when required (HACCP certified a plus).
  • Participates in generating production data as needed to support annual filings.
  • Drive actions stemming from corrective action and preventative action (CAPA) system.
  • Participate in the development of processes that will improve overall quality.
  • Supports / monitors the calibration and operations all testing equipment.
  • Ensures the management and maintenance of all QA files and retains samples.
  • Adheres to company policies and procedures, including GMP/SOP’s, Code of Safe Practices, and Lockout/Tagout/ Blockout Procedures.
  • Efficiently work with workers constructively and positively.
