About The Position

Responsible for contributing net profit to The Kroger Co. through a reduction of quality related losses on the inbound shipments of produce products. Assure all incoming products conform to written and approved quality specifications. Maintain a system of controls for proper receiving practices, labeling, sanitation, temperature control, bacterial levels and other related concerns to protect both the Company and the consumer and insure compliance to Federal, State, and Local regulatory requirements. Consult with Produce Merchandising, Produce Buyer, Floral Merchandiser, and Floral Buyer on inventory levels, shelf life, shrinkage and other quality related areas. Document and communicate pertinent data related to product quality levels on a timely basis to the Produce Merchandising Department and Produce Procurement. Identify and correct problem areas in the distribution center which affect the quality of the produce, such as plant temperatures, methods of loading, product rotation, etc. Demonstrate the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety.

Requirements

  • Understanding of written and approved quality specifications for produce.
  • Knowledge of proper receiving practices, labeling, sanitation, temperature control, and bacterial levels.
  • Familiarity with Federal, State, and Local regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to consult on inventory levels, shelf life, and shrinkage.
  • Skill in documenting and communicating product quality data.
  • Ability to identify and correct distribution center issues affecting produce quality.
  • Demonstrate company's core values: respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.
