About The Position

The Quality Assurance Inspection Specialist performs receipt inspection of procured items to ensure they meet defined specifications and requirements in accordance with specifications, procedures, and standards. This role determines or assists in determining the methods, procedures, and Measuring and Test Equipment (M&TE) necessary for performing inspections. The specialist is responsible for maintaining a thorough and advanced knowledge of applicable procedures, quality requirements, regulations, standards, and DOE orders. They will assist in reviewing engineering procurement documents to ensure that applicable quality inspection and acceptance activities have been incorporated and can be performed as specified. The role involves documenting inspection results on receipt inspection checklists, compiling receipt inspection packages for entry into approved records repository systems, and maintaining inspection records, vendor data submittments, and test reports in accordance with record requirements. The specialist will initiate non-conformance reports when non-conformances are identified during inspection activities and assist with their resolution, review, and approval. Handling, storing, and maintaining M&TE in accordance with standards and requirements is also a key responsibility. The specialist will serve as a subject matter expert regarding receipt inspection requirements, procedures, policies, and objectives, and maintain a safe, clean, and organized receipt inspection work area. Collaboration with CNS personnel across the site is expected to resolve issues or questions associated with specified receipt inspection requirements or items received. Data entry into Excel spreadsheets for producing metrics and tracking status of items in receipt inspection is required. The role demonstrates initiative and performs duties with minimal supervision, exercising independent, unbiased judgment regarding the final QA acceptance of procured items and services, recognizing the potential impact of errors on major projects and organizational functions. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree: Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Master's degree: Minimum 1 years of relevant experience.
  • Associate’s degree: Minimum 6 years of relevant experience.
  • Ten or more years of education and/or relevant experience may be considered to satisfy educational and years-of-experience requirements for this posting.
  • Working knowledge of computer software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point
  • Requires a Q clearance; however all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required.
  • This position may require entry into the Material Access Areas (MAA) and participation in the Human Reliability Program (10 C.F.R. Part 712), which requires successful competition of a DOE counterintelligence evaluation and may include a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination.
  • This position may be categorized as a “designated position” identified by 10 C.F.R. Part 709, requiring successful completion of a DOE counterintelligence evaluation that may include a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination.

Responsibilities

  • Performs receipt inspection of procured items to ensure the items meet defined specifications and requirements in accordance with specifications, procedures, and standards
