About The Position

The Quality Assurance Final Inspector ensures all products meet customer requirements throughout all production phases, including Sales, Fabrication, Coating, and Testing, as specified in Coherent Sales Orders or customer drawings. This role involves daily written communication of test results, product documentation, labeling, and packaging accuracy. The inspector is responsible for timely and accurate reporting of problems and quality trends to all departments and performing various testing procedures to guarantee products meet customer and internal quality standards. The inspector also manages the processing of coating trays to stock or sales orders, including transferring parts and documentation, tracking and shipping priority and walk-through orders, and inspecting and shipping them.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma with strong emphasis in math background.
  • 1 to 3 years background in a manufacturing environment with strong math background.
  • Technical background helpful in understanding technical concepts and drawings.
  • Must have high organizational skills involving abilities to manage a variety of different work and responsibilities at the same time, with attention to minute details a must.
  • Must have good verbal and written communication skills, which involve direct daily interaction with other departments.
  • Ability to understand and remember a large variety of customer labeling and documentation requirements.
  • View ITAR and other controlled documents.
  • Basic computer skills involving Microsoft office and data entry into programs.
  • U.S. citizen, permanent resident alien, or protected individual per 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3) due to ITAR compliance.
  • Good eyesight for visual inspection.
  • Ability to manage stressful situations.

Nice To Haves

  • ERP experience is a plus (SAP, Oracle or equivalent)

Responsibilities

  • Inspect all products to ensure they meet customer requirements in all phases of production.
  • Provide accurate daily written documentation, including test results, product documentation, labeling, and packaging.
  • Communicate problems and quality trends in a timely and accurate manner to all departments.
  • Perform various testing procedures to guarantee product quality.
  • Transfer parts and documentation between sales orders.
  • Track, inspect, and ship priority items.
  • Inspect and ship walk-through orders.
  • Perform testing procedures using equipment such as laser engraver, microscope, and shrink wrapper.
  • Measure coated clear apertures with a scale.
  • Use a vacuum/heat sealer.
  • Transport product between departments.
  • Perform daily computer entries into QA loggers for tracking work/sales orders.
  • Perform ERP transactions for stop/start and entering rejects.
  • Apply parts according to ERP understanding.
  • Report discrepancies in the QA logger daily for review.
  • Report non-conforming product to MRB.
  • Audit and double-check duties at prescribed intervals, checking for correct labels, serial numbers, and proper documentation.
  • Record results of audits.
  • Assist in weekly inventory counts of packaging supplies.
  • Assist in bi-weekly holder inventory counts.
  • Assist in ensuring an adequate supply of production boxes for shipping requirements.
  • Assist in reordering packaging supplies with GSC.
