About The Position

Responsible for guiding and assisting with quality management efforts to ensure continuous improvement and organizational excellence, adherence with all regulatory, compliance, accreditation, and legal issues, and promote a safe environment for all employees, patients and visitors. Formulates study specifications to produce desired information for and in compliance with the accreditation requirements. Works independently and deals with sensitive confidential and regulatory information daily. The Quality Assurance Coordinator actively coordinates the organization’s Hospital-Wide Performance Improvement Program, completes clinical audits for compliance, assists the Chief Operations Officer with development, communication, implementation and tracking of action plans necessary to close identified gaps in care or compliance with Joint Commission, CMS, COLA/CLIA, CARF and HIPAA standards and regulations. Coordinates review choice demonstration program and assists in outcomes via IRF PAI and RCD compliance.

Requirements

  • Licensed Nurse or RRA license required.
  • 2-3 years recent clinical work experience in acute care setting.
  • Knowledgeable in the principles of performance improvement.
  • Possess in-depth knowledge of functions of all hospital departments and quality improvement requirements as outlined by The Joint Commission, the state of employment’s Department of Health and Federal regulatory standards as outlined by CMS.
  • Ability to interpret raw data and comparative analysis.
  • Experience in conducting educational in-services.
  • Experience in accreditation/certification survey activities for The Joint Commission, CMS, State Licensure.
  • Demonstrated experience in working effectively with multiple departments on confidential issues in a positive and constructive manner.
  • Experience in Risk Management systems required.
  • Experience in working with the public on issues related to satisfaction/complaints required.
  • Ability to project a professional image.
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements.
  • Strong organizational, prioritizing and analytical skills.
  • Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant.
  • Working knowledge of computer and software applications used in job functions.
  • Freedom from illegal use of and effects of use of drugs and alcohol in the workplace.
  • Ability to read and write, communicate clearly with co-workers and customers and to respond to appropriate questions regarding work process or work product.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instruction furnished in written, oral and/or diagram form.
  • Ability to define and solve problems and collect data.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred, preferably in a health care related field.
  • Certified Professional Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) certification preferred.
