About The Position

This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with food safety, recalls, and regulatory standards. The Quality Assurance Coordinator will participate in the maintenance and evolution of the company’s quality programs, ensuring alignment and compliance with SQF and SFCR standards. A key responsibility is to collaborate with the Operations team and other departments to ensure policies, procedures, audits, and training programs are effectively implemented and followed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in science or related discipline.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Analytical & problem-solving skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of HACCP, SFCR, and SQF/GFSI.
  • Working knowledge and experience with meat and cheese import or manufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring compliance with food safety, recalls, and regulatory standards.
  • Participating in the maintenance and evolution of the company’s quality programs, ensuring alignment and compliance to SQF and SFCR standards.
  • Interacting with the Operations team and other departments to ensure policies, procedures, audits, and training programs are implemented and followed.
  • Supporting and participating in food safety programs including SQF (Safe Quality Food).
  • Participating in all CFIA, internal, customer, and SQF audits for all sites.
  • Maintaining the vendor management program and monitoring vendor performance.
  • Coordinating with CFIA for product inspections and handling any non-compliance issues or hold-ups.
  • Ensuring all inspection areas and tools are properly maintained and sanitized according to food safety protocols.
  • Driving food safety culture within the company through safety messages, training, etc.
  • Developing, implementing, updating, and maintaining documents, protocols, manuals, standard operating procedures (SOPs), food safety plan, etc., as required.
  • Communicating to the Senior Leadership Team, Operation Team, and other departments all information essential to ensure the effective implementation and maintenance of the SQF program and Preventative Control Plan (PCP).
  • Maintaining current knowledge of all Federal and local food safety regulations.
  • Initiating and coordinating continuous improvement initiatives in quality assurance and compliance.
  • Planning and conducting internal audits to assess compliance with programs including but not limited to Good Industry Practices (GIP) and SQF.
  • Investigating and resolving quality deviations, customer complaints, CFIA non-compliances, and timely close-out of CAPAs.
  • Performing inspections in three temperature zones: freezer, chilled/refrigerated, and ambient.
  • Participating in the Joint Health & Safety Committee.
