About The Position

The Quality Assurance Assistant will support the Product Development department in managing and enhancing the Second Harvest Food Rescue App. This position will aid in the identification of user technical issues within the app, creating detailed tickets and escalating concerns to the Development Team. This role will also support in conducting manual testing of bug fixes in order to verify solutions implemented in the app.

Requirements

Funded through Canada Summer Jobs, to be eligible for this opportunity, candidates must: be Youth between 18 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment.

Experienced in software quality assurance (at least 1 year).
Familiar with Kanban boards such as Jira or Microsoft DevOps Boards.
Knowledgeable in QA testing methodologies and practices.
Able to perform smoke testing, system testing, system integration testing, and regression testing.
Willing to hit the ground running, learn on the job, and resolve situations with a positive attitude.

Responsibilities

Execute manual and automated tests to ensure the quality, reliability, and usability of the Second Harvest Food Rescue App.
Write, update, and maintain automated end-to-end tests using Playwright, following established patterns and best practices.
Validate new functionality across web browsers and devices to ensure a consistent and accessible user experience.
Identify, document, and track bugs clearly and thoroughly, including steps to reproduce and expected vs. actual behaviour.
Re-test fixes and improvements to confirm issues are resolved and do not introduce regressions.
Support regression testing before releases to help ensure smooth and reliable deployments.
Review product requirements, designs, and user stories with a quality-first mindset, flagging potential edge cases early.
Contribute to improving QA processes, test coverage, and documentation over time.
Participate in daily stand-ups and team meetings with Product team to identify priorities and challenges.
Perform other related duties as required/assigned to support the overall goals of the organization.
