About The Position

First Orion is seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Analyst to help ensure our software meets high standards of quality, reliability, and usability. This role is well‑suited for someone who takes pride in their work, cares about product quality, and can manage testing responsibilities independently in a fast‑paced environment. In this role, you’ll support multiple projects and work closely with engineers and product partners to make sure quality is considered throughout development—not just at the end. Depending on the project, your testing work may involve UI, APIs, backend systems, and/or data flows. Not every project includes all areas.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of professional software quality assurance experience.
  • Experience testing web applications, services, or data‑driven systems.
  • Hands‑on experience with API testing tools (e.g., Postman or similar).
  • Working knowledge of SQL for basic data validation.
  • Familiarity with the software development lifecycle and defect tracking.
  • Strong attention to detail and a mindset focused on delivering quality software.
  • Ability to manage your own work, meet deadlines, and adapt as projects evolve.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with test management tools such as TestRail or Xray.
  • Exposure to test automation tools or frameworks.
  • Experience testing integrations or distributed systems.
  • Working knowledge of test‑driven development (TDD) concepts.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines

Responsibilities

  • Perform quality assurance testing for assigned projects.
  • Design and execute manual test cases based on requirements and expected behavior.
  • Test software features across applicable areas, which may include: User interfaces (UI) APIs and middleware Backend services Data integrations and flows
  • Look for gaps, edge cases, and potential issues early in the process.
  • Perform functional , integration, regression, user acceptance, and negative testing as needed.
  • Validate results using tools such as API clients, logs, and SQL queries.
  • Clearly document defects with steps to reproduce and expected results.
  • Work closely with engineering teams to verify fixes and confirm readiness.
  • Take ownership of your testing work and follow tasks through to completion.
  • Actively support product quality by asking relevant questions and flagging concerns before release.
