About The Position

This position will spend 50% of their time conducting and maintaining ISO audits, system audits, maintain all related documentation and training, etc. And the other 50% of their time performing hands on inspection of parts that involved welding, fit up, machining, forming, assembly, stamping, powder coat, paint, and electro plating. Must have strong knowledge of inspection tools and must be fluent when reading and converting measurements such as Decimals, Fraction, Angles, Radiuses, Mils, surface finishes, Gauged materials as well as strong knowledge of material types. Continually improves processes (production, support, and administrative) to meet company objectives (sales, on-time deliveries, efficiency, reduction in returns). Uses ISO 9001 criteria, root cause/corrective action, preventive action, management review, plan-do-check-act cycle (PDCA), basic quality tools, and statistical process control (SPC) to improve products and processes. Abide by company policies and procedures and interact with all employees in a positive and fair manner, in alignment with CCL core values.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of inspection tools.
  • Fluent in reading and converting measurements such as Decimals, Fractions, Angles, Radiuses, Mils, surface finishes, and Gauged materials.
  • Strong knowledge of material types.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 requirements.
  • Capable of preparing, performing, and reporting internal audits.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Capable of using basic quality tools, such as Pareto charts, cause & effect diagrams, flowcharts, SPC, and PDCA.

  • Understanding of process variation.
  • Understanding of acceptance sampling.
  • Ability to correctly use ANSI/ASQ Z1.4 (MIL-STD-105E) or equivalent for attributes sampling.
  • Ability to manage or assess processes for document control, configuration control, records control, and control of nonconforming product.
  • Ability to maintain related records.
  • Basic project management skills.
  • Ability to use MS Office software.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Six Sigma, Lean and 5S.
  • Basic inspection skills, including the use of common inspection, measuring and test equipment.
  • ASQ’s Certified Quality Auditor, Certified Quality Engineer, Certified Process Analyst, or SME’s Lean Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting and maintaining ISO audits, system audits, and related documentation and training.
  • Performing hands-on inspection of parts involving welding, fit-up, machining, forming, assembly, stamping, powder coating, painting, and electroplating.
  • Improving processes (production, support, and administrative) to meet company objectives.
  • Using ISO 9001 criteria, root cause/corrective action, preventive action, management review, PDCA cycle, basic quality tools, and SPC to improve products and processes.
  • Protecting yourself, co-workers, and the company by maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Keeping work areas clean and orderly.
  • Reporting any problems that may impact safety to the supervisor.
  • Maintaining a working knowledge of customer specifications and related industry specifications, regulations, and codes.
  • Managing the internal audit program in accordance with ISO 9001 and procedure A007.
  • Managing the corrective action program, ensuring adequate root cause analysis and records maintenance in accordance with ISO 9001 and procedure A006.
  • Applying the correct SPC technique to a specific application and interpreting results to assess process controls and capabilities.
  • Understanding the difference between common-cause and special-cause variation.
  • Using SPC results in conjunction with manufacturing and engineering personnel to revise designs or improve processes when necessary.
  • Performing visual, dimensional, and functional inspections on raw materials, work in process, finished goods, or First Article Inspections.
  • Identifying and segregating nonconforming parts in accordance with documented procedures.
  • Maintaining records of nonconforming product.
  • Notifying operator(s) of any nonconforming parts.
  • Representing CCL to customer representatives and third-party auditors.
  • Reading and interpreting prints and specifications.
  • Assisting in quality planning and improvement of production paperwork (e.g., routers or work instructions).
  • Reporting any problems or shortages that may impact safety, quality, the schedule, or the company to management.
  • Protecting the company’s investment and maintaining a productive work environment by maintaining equipment and property provided.
  • Reporting any problems relating to company equipment or property to management.
  • Performing other assignments or tasks as required.
