About The Position

HII's Newport News Shipbuilding (NNS) division is the largest industrial employer in Virginia, designing, building, and refueling U.S. Navy nuclear aircraft carriers and submarines. The Quality Analyst 3 role involves developing and implementing program quality plans, programs, and procedures using statistical quality control, lean manufacturing, and Six Sigma tools. This position ensures that performance and quality of products conform to established company and regulatory standards. The role includes reviewing and analyzing quality discrepancies related to various systems (assembly, process, mechanical, electrical, electro-mechanical), investigating problems, and developing corrective actions. The Quality Analyst 3 will interface with manufacturing, engineering, customer, vendor, and subcontractor representatives to ensure requirements are met and will recommend corrective actions, dispositions, and modifications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of relevant exempt experience; Master’s Degree and 4 year of relevant professional experience
  • NNS Apprentice School graduate may be used as equivalent to Bachelor's Degree to meet minimum qualifications
  • Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate may be used as equivalent to Bachelor's Degree to meet minimum qualifications
  • Associate's Degree or other formal 2 year program and 2 years of relevant exempt experience or 4 years of relevant non-exempt experience may be used as equivalent to Bachelor's Degree to meet minimum qualifications
  • Military Paygrade E-5 or above military experience may be used as equivalent to Bachelor's Degree to meet minimum qualifications
  • High School/GED and 4 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant exempt experience may be used as equivalent to Bachelor's Degree to meet minimum qualifications
  • High School/GED and 8 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant non-exempt experience may be used as equivalent to Bachelor's Degree to meet minimum qualifications
  • US Citizenship Required

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement program quality plans, programs, and procedures using statistical quality control statistics, lean manufacturing concepts, and six-sigma tools and analyses.
  • Ensure that performance and quality products conform to established company and regulatory standards.
  • Review, analyze and report on quality discrepancies related to assembly, process, mechanical, electrical and electro-mechanical systems.
  • Investigate problems and develop disposition and corrective actions for recurring discrepancies.
  • Interface with manufacturing, engineering, customer, vendor and subcontractor representatives to ensure requirements are met.
  • Recommend corrective actions, dispositions and modifications.
