About The Position

The QMS Engineer is responsible for operating the Quality Management System (QMS), writing procedures and processes to support QMS development. This role involves leading and conducting audits across all business areas and the supply chain, providing training, and championing the QMS. The engineer will work on various project phases or entire projects of moderate complexity, with results impacting project completion. The role requires working under general supervision, with reviews at project milestones and/or upon completion by Senior Management.

Requirements

  • Experience operating a Quality Management System (QMS).

  • Experience with corrective action reporting systems.
  • Experience hosting internal/external quality audits.

  • Experience reporting on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Experience performing root cause analysis and resolving problems.
  • Experience performing Contract Review / Planned Review Activities.
  • Experience reviewing Customer Purchase orders and Preview orders.
  • Experience reviewing Customer Quality Clauses & special requirements.
  • Experience reviewing Planning and QC Release to the shop.
  • Experience attending to customer requests via phone and e-mail.
  • Experience working closely with Quality Managers & QA Analysts.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee effective implementation of the Quality Management System throughout the company, including business accreditations.
  • Maintain Quality Manuals and Quality Procedures, ensuring their appropriateness for the business.
  • Analyze current and future procedural needs of the business.
  • Monitor and report on the internal audit system and corrective action reporting system.
  • Conduct Quality Systems audits and assist in training/guidance to other auditors.
  • Create, issue, respond to, and monitor all internal/external audit Corrective Action requests.
  • Host Internal/External Quality Audits and communicate Audit results throughout the organization.
  • Provide training on Quality issues and business processes.
  • Coordinate the review of Quality procedures associated with plant continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Plan Standard Operating practices required under the overriding Quality procedures.
  • Maintain Standard Operating Procedure content and coordinate the issuing of these documents.
  • Support other functional areas of the business including procurement, business services, and design.
  • Assist with training of quality awareness.
  • Report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to adhere to process and prevent non-conformities related to product, process, or system.
  • Undertake special projects as required.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement activities.
  • Perform quality control of work through appropriate reviews.
  • Support and lead process improvement activities.
  • Achieve goals within budget.
  • Conduct benchmarking studies to determine best practices and future trends.
  • Attend various meetings and action/communicate instructions.
  • Undertake continuous training and development.
  • Perform root cause analysis and resolve problems.
  • Perform Contract Review / Planned Review Activities.
  • Review Customer Purchase orders and Preview orders.
  • Review Customer Quality Clauses & special requirements.
