About The Position

The QMI and Metering Engineering role provides discipline engineering expertise across fiscal, allocation, and environmental metering and Quality Measurement Instruments (QMI). The role initially supports a major greenfield project, ensuring the contractor develops and delivers all necessary metering and QMI scope and documents to identify, specify, and manage measurements to the required performance levels through operations. The position transitions into ongoing operational stewardship as the project moves to start-up and steady-state.

Requirements

  • Strong (7+ years) experience in hydrocarbons metering and QMI across projects and/or operations; LNG and utilities experience advantageous.
  • Deep understanding of analyser and flow-metering technologies (e.g., gas chromatographs, moisture/H₂S/CO₂ analyzers; ultrasonic, turbine, Coriolis, and DP/orifice/venturi meters; flow computers; sampling/conditioning systems).
  • Demonstrated competence in fiscal/allocation/environmental metering, custody transfer, uncertainty analysis, verification/calibration and performance monitoring.
  • Demonstrated ability to review, challenge and approve contractor/vendor deliverables and manage acceptance to close-out.
  • Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis capability; track record resolving integrity/production upsets.
  • Working knowledge US/local regulatory environment and applicable standards to ensure measurement systems meet statutory requirements; able to interpret and implement contractual/commercial measurement obligations.
  • Familiarity with relevant industry standards and practices (e.g., API/ISO for metering and analyzers).
  • Clear communicator with strong stakeholder and vendor management skills.
  • Decisive and pragmatic, balancing technical, cost and schedule to deliver reliable, compliant outcomes.
  • Degree in Engineering (Instrumentation, Electrical, Chemical or related).

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with Company & Project and industry HSSE policies, standards, and regulations throughout all phases of the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure all design, construction, and maintenance activities comply with industry codes, regulatory requirements, and safety standards.
  • Ensure measurement systems meet local regulatory standards and requirements, as well as contractual/commercial obligations (e.g., custody transfer, allocation, environmental reporting).
  • Work within company management systems and processes, applying sound risk management and management of change.
  • Own integrity and performance of fiscal, allocation and environmental metering and QMI systems, including custody transfer.
  • Maintain and improve the metering & QMI management system; ensure preventive maintenance, spares, special tools and calibration facilities are defined and effectively managed.
  • Execute performance monitoring (e.g., analytics), identify bad actors, and drive defect elimination and cost reduction.
  • Establish metering/QMI configurations management, calculations recording and master data necessary to manage metering equipment.
  • Lead or support troubleshooting and root cause analysis; resolve mismeasurements in conjunction with Production Allocation/ Product Lifting teams.
  • Coordinate interfaces across Operations, Projects, Commercial, Supply Chain and vendors to remove blockers and deliver outcomes.
  • Lead discipline oversight of the EPC contractor for metering and QMI scope, ensuring deliverables (philosophies, specifications, data sheets, drawings, packages, verification plans and procedures) meet performance, reliability and operability requirements through the asset life.
  • Set acceptance criteria, review and approve contractor deliverables, raise/close punch items, and ensure alignment with project standards and operational needs.
  • Work with EPC to define measurement performance requirements, uncertainty budgets, calibration and verification regimes, and lifecycle data/records management to support custody transfer and allocation.
  • Provide discipline input across Assess/Select/Define/Execute stages and assure that design and vendor selections are fit-for-purpose.
