QC Technician

About The Position

The QC Technician tests incoming raw materials and finished products and collects data to verify they meet required specifications before release to the packaging department. The role performs testing on each production batch, maintains quality records, handles non-conforming and returned materials, and maintains laboratory testing equipment. The technician also supports quality investigations, raw-material adjustments, reporting, product development, and production activities as needed.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
Minimum of one (2) year of related chemical laboratory experience, as stated in the posting.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience may qualify if they provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job.

Responsibilities

Test every production batch in a timely and efficient manner.
Maintain QC data in the computer and log book.
Use only approved, good-quality products for packaging and dispose of non-conforming materials appropriately.
Retest returned products and other materials and promptly notify appropriate personnel.
Maintain laboratory testing apparatus and periodically check its function and calibration.
Arrange equipment service or send equipment to the manufacturer as applicable.
Assist the QC Manager and department supervisors with root cause analysis and resolution of quality failures.
Assist the QC Manager in determining pre-production raw material adjustments to keep products within specification.
Keep batch retains in systematic order.
Close production tickets in IFS.
Issue Certificates of Analysis to customers.
Prepare monthly Quality Summary Reports.
Clean tools and materials used for testing.
Assist R&D with developmental products and other special projects.
Perform incoming Quality Control as necessary.
Assist in production as work scheduling allows.
Perform miscellaneous duties as requested by the supervisor.
Unload raw materials from railcars.
