About The Position

The QC Line Inspector is responsible for ensuring product quality meets customer standards. This role involves monitoring and recording product weights, checking color, odor, and texture, and performing seal integrity and burst testing. The inspector also verifies product code and fill temperature, conducts complete tear downs for seamer heads, and notifies supervisors of any out-of-specification measurements. Accurate documentation and data entry into the Quality control computer are essential. The position requires active participation in team meetings, fostering team cohesion, and supporting team objectives. The inspector must be familiar with Simmons' operating systems and understand their role in maintaining these systems. This role also involves performing other duties as necessary to support business objectives. The job requires the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including steel-toed shoes, earplugs, and hairnets.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experienced within a manufacturing/process environment with knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Background in manufacturing.
  • Regularly required to sit, stand and walk.
  • Must wear Steel toed shoes, Ear Plugs, Hair Net.

  • Some college and/or Tech School.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the quality of the product is up to customer standards.
  • Monitor and record product weights.
  • Check product color, odor, and texture.
  • Check seal integrity and perform burst testing.
  • Verify product code and fill temperature.
  • Perform complete tear downs for each seamer head on the running seamer.
  • Notify supervisor of any out of specification measurements after recheck is confirmed.
  • Fill out documentation as required.
  • Record information on the Quality log sheets.
  • Input all data in the Quality control computer at the QC station for further review.
  • Participate as a member of the team.
  • Participate in ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies.
  • Coordinate work to ensure best practices with all team members.
  • Attend appropriate team meetings.
  • Foster strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues.
  • Accept responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and works with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues.
  • Actively look for ways, and reinforce actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization.
  • Be familiar with Simmons' established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies).
  • Understand the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position's role in support of these systems.
  • Consider the impact of individual actions on the systems and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas.
  • Perform other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
