About The Position

The QC Line Inspector is responsible for ensuring product quality meets customer standards. This involves monitoring product weights, checking color, odor, and texture, verifying seal integrity through burst testing, and confirming product code and fill temperature. The role also includes performing complete tear downs for each seamer head, notifying supervisors of any out-of-specification measurements, and accurately recording data in quality log sheets and the QC computer system. The inspector is expected to be a collaborative team member, actively participating in team meetings and initiatives, and fostering cohesiveness. Familiarity with Simmons' operating systems and company policies is required, along with a commitment to communicating concerns and improvement ideas. This position may require performing other duties as necessary to support business objectives.

Requirements

  • Experienced within a manufacturing/process environment with knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Background in manufacturing.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Regularly required to sit, stand and walk.
  • Must wear Steel toed shoes, Ear Plugs, Hair Net.

  • Some college and/or Tech School.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the quality of the product is up to customer standards, including monitoring and recording product weights, checking color, odor, and texture, checking seal integrity and performing burst testing, and verifying product code and fill temperature.
  • Complete tear downs for each seamer head on the running seamer.
  • Notify supervisor of any out-of-specification measurements after recheck is confirmed and fill out documentation as required.
  • Record information on the Quality log sheets and input all data in the Quality control computer at the QC station for further review.
  • Participate as a member of the team, contributing to ongoing development, communication, and implementation of team concepts, programs, and policies.
  • Coordinate work to ensure best practices with all team members and attend appropriate team meetings.
  • Foster strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues, accept responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, and work with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues.
  • Maintain familiarity with Simmons' established operating systems (e.g., quality, security, office environment, company policies) and understand the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas.
  • Perform other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
