About The Position

The QC Line Inspector is responsible for ensuring the quality of the product meets customer standards. This involves monitoring and recording product weights, checking color, odor, and texture, verifying seal integrity through burst testing, and performing product code and fill temperature checks. The role also includes completing tear downs for each seamer head on the running seamer and notifying the supervisor of any out-of-specification measurements after rechecking. The inspector will fill out required documentation, record information on Quality log sheets, and input data into the Quality control computer. Additionally, the position requires active participation as a team member, fostering cohesiveness, and supporting team concepts, programs, and policies. The inspector must be familiar with Simmons' operating systems and understand their role in supporting these systems, including communicating concerns and improvement ideas. This role also involves performing other duties as necessary to support business objectives.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experienced within a manufacturing/process environment with knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Background in manufacturing.
  • Regularly required to sit, stand and walk.
  • Must wear Steel toed shoes, Ear Plugs, Hair Net.

  • Some college and/or Tech School.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the quality of the product is up to customer standards.
  • Monitor and record product weights.

  • Fill out documentation as required.

  • Input all data in the Quality control computer at the QC station for further review.
  • Participate as a member of the team.
  • Participate in ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies.
  • Coordinate work to ensure best practices with all team members.
  • Attend appropriate team meetings.
  • Foster strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues.
  • Accept responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and works with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues.
  • Actively look for ways, and reinforce actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization.
  • Is familiar with Simmons' established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies).
  • Understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position's role in support of these systems.
  • Consider the impact of individual actions on the systems and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas.
  • Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
