About The Position

The QC Inspector I is responsible for conducting pre-pour and post-pour inspections to ensure that concrete members meet required tolerances according to shop cards and PCI standards. This role also involves performing concrete testing, witnessing stressing, and establishing adequate curing controls. All employees are expected to adhere to safety and quality rules to ensure a safe work environment and high-quality products.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Adherence to all Safety and Quality rules and processes.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct pre-pour and post-pour inspections to ensure concrete members achieve required tolerances as per shop cards and PCI.
  • Perform concrete testing, including slumps, unit weights, air content, release cylinders, and 28-day cylinders.
  • Witness stressing and establish adequate curing controls.
  • Inspect bed set-up according to shop drawings for proper size and placement of reinforcement, strands, plate location, and structural connections.
  • Identify and report any nonconforming items to the appropriate personnel for correction.
  • Set up steam clocks to ensure proper curing temperatures.
  • Monitor finishing procedures in the finishing shed.
  • Inspect final products, noting any nonconformances and reporting them to the Engineering Department for approval or repair.
  • Tag conforming products with a green tag and nonconforming products requiring engineering approval with a red tag.
  • Verify that repaired members conform to engineering requirements after work is completed.
  • Document and submit all nonconformances requiring engineering approval in writing.
