About The Position

Central Wire (CWI) Group of Companies is a world-class manufacturer with 12 locations in three countries and over 750 employees. As the only fully integrated maker of wire, rope and assemblies, their solutions are found in aerospace, defense, med tech, and heavy industry applications globally. CWI has an opportunity for a Quality Assurance (QA) Technician at its Perth, Ontario location. This position is responsible for inspecting and testing in-process and finished wire at their busy manufacturing facility. The opening is for the Afternoon Shift (an 8-hour shift - Monday to Friday – from 4:00 p.m. to Midnight.). The pay is hourly, ranging from $18.00 to $21.50.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Computer literate including experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to read and understand specifications and inspection instructions
  • Ability to follow written instructions
  • Ability to work overtime when required

Responsibilities

  • Conduct visual and dimensional inspection of wire as well as mechanical testing to ensure product conformance to customer requirements
  • Review orders and shop travelers with customer purchase orders to ensure compliance to customer’s requirements
  • Perform process and product audits on the production floor to ensure compliance with procedures and specifications
  • Prepare samples for metallography
  • Perform corrosion and or moly testing
  • Perform Niton testing
  • Print and review finished product labels
  • Assist in the raw material/incoming rod receiving process by performing inspections and tests of material as specified
  • Input data and prepare Certificates of Conformance of products for shipping
  • Report test results, provide documentation of nonconforming conditions, file test results, certifications, and any additional data collection required
  • Report directly to the Quality Supervisor while providing support, consultation, and input to the Shift Supervisor
  • Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned
