About The Position

The QA Technician I helps ensure manufactured products meet specifications and supports the Quality function in maintaining procedures for ISO 9001 certification. The position is primarily responsible for inspecting final products for acceptance and ensuring product accuracy against engineering drawings and manufacturing routing requirements. It also involves receiving and in-process inspection, testing, documenting results, managing non-conformance notices and return material authorizations, and promoting AFL’s environmental, health, and safety policies.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of manufacturing experience, preferably in a role requiring an understanding of quality control.
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills, including the ability to set priorities.
• Strong attention to detail and due diligence when inspecting multiple product lines and working with complex drawings.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings.
• Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to clearly explain issues.
• Problem-solving skills and a bias for action, with a focus on quality and protecting the customer.
• Ability to sit, stand, walk, and lift for periods throughout the day.

Nice To Haves

• Technical associate degree or bachelor’s degree.
• Experience with ISO 9001:2015 standards.
• Experience using Oracle.
• Experience using Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Perform receiving, in-process, and final inspection testing.
• Report inspection and testing results to manufacturing using appropriate tagging and other communication methods.
• Maintain quality records related to testing and ensure their documentation is accurate.
• Enter test and inspection results into a computer database.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and manufacturing routing instructions.
• Measure products and confirm they meet defined specifications.
• Issue and close out non-conformance notices for products that do not meet specifications.
• Use quality gauges to measure product standards.
• Handle return material authorizations.
• Adhere to and promote AFL’s environmental, health, and safety policies.
