About The Position

The QA Laboratory Technician I will be responsible for implementing quality control processes and testing to meet Safeway quality standards and ensure products are within specification. This role involves performing Microbiological, Chemical, Physical, and Organoleptic Testing, evaluating trends from test results, and developing plans to correct deficiencies. The technician will also ensure adherence to Safeway policies, procedures, and workplace safety, and manage laboratory supplies and equipment.

Requirements

• Minimum Bachelor's degree (Food Science, Biology, Microbiology or related science) or equivalent experience (Minimum 2 years in similar role)
• Knowledge of Microbiological, Chemical and Physical, Organoleptic Testing
• Excellent organizational skills with a high degree of initiative and flexibility.
• Good analytical and problem solving skills.
• Good oral/written communication skills.
• Able to multi-task in fast paced environment with limited supervision.
• Proficient in window based PC programs.
• Ability to lift 50lbs.
• Time Management
• Quick to learn new techniques
• Ability to work in cold and loud environments.

Responsibilities

• Ensure Safeway policies, procedures, and workplace safety is adhered to.
• Evaluate trends from test results and develop plans to correct deficiencies and communicate these plans to employees, and management.
• Implement quality control processes/testing to meet the expectations of Safeway quality standards and ensure that the product(s) are within specification.
• Utilize laboratory supplies/items relating to plant sanitation/safety.
• Lab Test Equipment/Maintenance.
