QA Engineer

Aderant•Atlanta, GA

About The Position

As a QA Engineer, you will help ensure the quality of Aderant’s legal software across its practice-of-law products. You will test assigned product areas through manual verification and exploratory testing, automation and gated tests, test plans, performance and load testing, product integration testing, and production feature-flag testing. You will help determine whether releases are ready to roll out and work with developers, architects, QA engineers, product owners, and support staff.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of experience in software QA, including at least 2 years writing automated tests.
  • Hands-on experience with a modern UI automation framework; Playwright is preferred.
  • Experience testing REST APIs using Postman, Playwright request, or code-based tests, and reading request/response payloads in browser DevTools.
  • Working knowledge of SQL for checking data and setting up test conditions.
  • Experience with Git, pull requests, and running tests in CI pipelines.
  • Solid understanding of test design, including equivalence partitioning, boundary values, state transitions, and risk-based prioritization.
  • Comfort with manual and exploratory testing and sound judgment about when to use each approach.
  • Clear written communication, including actionable bug reports and summaries for managers.
  • A working habit of using AI coding assistants to speed up test creation and investigation.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Jest or similar unit-test frameworks and with mocking or stubbing backends.
  • Knowledge of C# scripting and TypeScript for writing and maintaining test automation.
  • Experience with contract testing, such as consumer-driven contracts or schema validation, or testing third-party integrations.
  • Experience with performance or load testing tools such as k6 or JMeter.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps Boards and Test Cases, and Azure-hosted environments.
  • Experience with SSO, OAuth, or OIDC login flows and multi-tenant SaaS configuration.
  • Familiarity with legal or professional-services software.

Responsibilities

  • Plan feature and release testing by translating requirements and user stories into test cases, identifying risks and edge cases, and recommending what to automate versus test manually.
  • Build and maintain automated web end-to-end, API, contract, and unit-level tests in collaboration with developers.
  • Perform manual and exploratory testing, including release checklists, regression passes, and structured sessions in QA environments.
  • Test integrations across databases, connectors, identity and single sign-on systems, and other Aderant products, verifying data flows, contracts, and failure behavior.
  • Contribute to non-functional testing, including performance, load, and resilience scenarios with measurable pass criteria.
  • Maintain reliable automation by fixing flaky tests, avoiding dependencies on shared accounts and preset configurations, and managing test data to prevent interference between runs.
  • Help integrate tests into CI/CD pipelines so appropriate suites run on pull requests, nightly, and before releases.
  • Log reproducible defects with evidence, track test cases and results in Azure DevOps, and communicate coverage, results, and risks to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Coordinate with developers and operations across development, QA, and staging environments on setup, backend support, test accounts, and configuration.
  • Learn the products, environments, and existing test suites; independently run release manual verification and deliver initial automated tests and fixes for flaky tests.
  • Become the primary tester for a product area, add automated coverage for previously manual-only paths, and maintain reliable CI test runs.
  • Contribute improvements to integration, database, or performance testing and share learning with newer QA engineers.
