About The Position

Join MagmaLabs, a leading provider of expert software engineers dedicated to helping companies achieve their goals across diverse and impactful industries. We are actively seeking a seasoned QA Automation Engineer to join our fully remote team. In this role, you will build and own the end-to-end automation that protects complex, document-heavy platforms in legaltech, fintech, e-commerce, and other sectors where a defect reaching production is not an acceptable outcome. Join our fully remote team and take ownership of automated quality on a product where correctness is not negotiable: deep permission hierarchies, long multi-step workflows, and large volumes of documents that different people are allowed to see in different ways. You will not be inheriting a mature practice. You will be the person who decides what gets automated, how the framework is structured, and what "ready to release" means. Your regression suite becomes the safety net the engineering team ships against, and the quality signal the business trusts. Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of software quality assurance experience, with at least 3 years focused extensively on test automation.
• Hands-on experience with Robot Framework, including writing and maintaining custom libraries rather than only authoring test files.
• Strong proficiency in Python beyond scripting level: modules, classes, decorators, and type hints.
• Proven experience with Selenium WebDriver, including explicit wait strategies and locators that survive changes to the interface.
• Experience automating REST API testing and validating data consistency across layers.
• Working knowledge of SQL for test data preparation and backend validation.
• Experience integrating automated suites into CI/CD pipelines such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps, with solid Git and code review practices.
• Solid grounding in test design: risk-based testing, edge cases, regression strategy, and the judgment to decide what is worth automating.
• Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English. You will work directly with the client team, where clear, self-authored bug reports and same-day responses are the standard.
• Experience working in Agile environments (Scrum, Kanban, etc.) and collaborating effectively across time zones, with overlap with United States Pacific business hours.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with Playwright or the Robot Framework Browser library.
• Familiarity with parallel execution using Pabot and with reporting tools such as Allure.
• Experience testing document-heavy or highly configurable SaaS platforms.
• Knowledge of Docker and containerized test environments.
• Exposure to performance and load testing with tools such as JMeter or k6.
• Understanding of compliance-driven testing: audit trails, access controls, and SOC 2 requirements.
• Experience using AI-assisted tools to generate and maintain test scripts, with the judgment to review what they produce.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain end to end automated test suites using Robot Framework and Selenium.
• Extend the automation framework with custom Python libraries and keywords that keep tests readable and maintainable as the product grows.
• Automate API level validation to cover business logic below the user interface, where it runs faster and breaks less.
• Integrate the automated suites into CI/CD pipelines so that every build produces a trustworthy quality signal.
• Build and own the regression suite, prioritizing the flows that carry the highest business risk.
• Design and maintain test data, including masked and synthetic datasets that keep sensitive information out of non-production environments.
• Validate complex permission hierarchies and tenant-level data isolation, verifying that each role sees exactly what it should and nothing more.
• Investigate failed runs down to root cause, and treat unstable tests as defects to fix rather than noise to retry.
• Report quality metrics that drive decisions: coverage, execution time, test stability, and defects that escaped to production.
• Collaborate with engineers, product, and the client team across time zones, and document the automation patterns that others will contribute to.
