About The Position

Trident Consulting is seeking a QA Automation Engineer for one of our clients in Tampa, FL. This is an onsite contract position for 1 year with possible extension, paying $40/hr. The role involves designing, developing, and maintaining automated test suites, building and executing automation scripts across web UI, API, and backend validation, defining test strategy, owning test planning and execution, validating REST services, performing database testing, validating batch jobs and end-to-end workflows, and participating actively in Scrum ceremonies as the team's quality advocate. The candidate will use and contribute to SDLC tooling such as Jira, Git, and CI tools. The candidate will be working closely with Dev leads / Product Owners and client stakeholders and providing hands-on test automation solutions within an Agile Team Structure.

  • Utilization of test automation tools, to enable the efficient and timely E2E test execution, therefore previous experience of automated testing is required.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test suites with a strong emphasis on UI automation using Selenium and/or Playwright, and BDD frameworks such as Cucumber.
  • Build and execute automation scripts across web UI, API, and backend validation; ensure tests are reliable, maintainable, and scalable.
  • Define test strategy by decomposing business and technical requirements into test scenarios, test data needs, and contingency plans.
  • Own test planning and execution: test case execution plans, defect management, reporting/status metrics, and release sign-offs.
  • Validate REST services through functional, regression, and integration testing to ensure reliable, end-to-end coverage.
  • Perform database testing in Oracle (SQL validation, data reconciliation, stored procedure outcomes as applicable).
  • Validate batch jobs and end-to-end workflows (scheduling, file/data handoffs, downstream impacts).
  • Participate actively in Scrum ceremonies as the team's quality advocate; proactively identify defects early in each sprint/iteration.
  • Use and contribute to SDLC tooling such as Jira (test cycle management/defects), Git, and CI tools (e.g., Jenkins, Bitbucket pipelines).
