About The Position

The Python & Java Full Stack Developer (AI-Capabilities) builds AI-assisted platforms for manufacturing test and debug automation software used on factory floors. The role owns end-to-end features across event-driven platforms, spanning AWS infrastructure, Python and Java backend services, agentic LLM workflows, and an Angular frontend for a system serving manufacturing sites. LLMs and AI coding agents are central to the work, but the role calls for engineers who can also work independently without them. The developer is expected to define precise requirements, critically evaluate generated code, make and justify architectural decisions, and use strong testing, review, and observability practices to keep production changes safe. Work includes spec-driven development, reusable agent capabilities and tools, prompt and context engineering, and rigorous validation of agent behavior. The position develops agentic AI workflows on Amazon Bedrock; operates Python serverless and Java microservices; evolves AWS CDK infrastructure; maintains API compatibility; builds retrieval and scoring logic using OpenSearch; and instruments services and CI/CD for observable, reversible deployments. The role also contributes to shared foundational code, where changes may have a wide impact.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in a software development capacity with enterprise server, storage, or networking products.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Python experience, including modern typing, asynchronous patterns, data validation such as Pydantic, clean error handling, and codebase-scale structure.
  • Deep Java backend experience with Spring Boot and/or Quarkus, clean architecture, and idiomatic use of the type system.
  • Production AWS serverless and cloud experience across Lambda, ECS Fargate, DynamoDB, S3, SQS, OpenSearch, VPC, VPC Endpoints, private API Gateway, EventBridge, IAM, IAM Roles Anywhere, Amazon Bedrock, CloudWatch, SSM Parameter Store, and ECR assets.
  • Persistence experience with JPA/Hibernate, JDBC, transaction management, DynamoDB access-pattern modeling, and relational database design, management, and query optimization.
  • Experience designing production REST services, including versioning and backward compatibility.
  • Understanding of Java virtual threads (Project Loom) and concurrency correctness.
  • Experience designing and operating microservices with a message bus such as NATS.io, Kafka, or SQS, including idempotency, retries, and failure handling.
  • Hands-on experience building LLM applications, including function calling, prompt design, RAG, embeddings, and evaluating output quality.
  • Experience using AI coding agents judiciously, with spec-driven workflows and the ability to critically review their output.
  • Angular and TypeScript experience building and maintaining modern web interfaces.
  • Testing experience covering unit tests, integration tests, and mocking.
  • Experience with Docker, Docker Swarm, and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with Git, Azure DevOps pipelines, and code review in a sizable multi-repository codebase.
  • Knowledge of blue/green and canary deployments, gated rollouts, and rollback strategies.
  • Knowledge of structured logging, tracing, metrics, secure coding, authentication fundamentals, and operational-data analytics.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and ship end-to-end features spanning AWS infrastructure, Python and Java backend services, agentic LLM workflows, and the Angular frontend.
  • Build and evolve agentic AI workflows on Amazon Bedrock, including tool/function calling, RAG, prompts, validation loops, and fallback strategies.
  • Own Python serverless and Java microservices, including REST and event-driven APIs, persistence, asynchronous pipelines, and message-bus integrations.
  • Implement idempotency, retries, and dead-letter handling throughout services and event workflows.
  • Define and evolve multi-stack AWS infrastructure as code using AWS CDK, including cross-stack references.
  • Maintain published API surfaces as backward-compatibility contracts and use shared interface/schema libraries across services and clients.
  • Develop log chunking, embeddings, vector and semantic search in OpenSearch, and relevance ranking.
  • Instrument systems with CloudWatch dashboards, alarms, tracing, and structured diagnostic events.
  • Own CI/CD on Azure DevOps, including gated and reversible rollouts.
  • Contribute narrow, well-tested changes to shared foundational code with a wide blast radius.
  • Specify work precisely, evaluate AI-generated output critically, and write code independently when needed.
  • Use spec-driven workflows and reusable agent capabilities, tools, and project conventions.
  • Build and maintain Angular/TypeScript user interfaces that consume backend APIs.
  • Apply unit, integration, and mocking practices as part of shipping software.
