About The Position

Akina is hiring a Full Stack Java Developer 2 to perform software development predominantly using Java, creating and implementing enhancements to existing capabilities. The role collaborates with software and systems engineers in an agile environment to analyze requirements and derive user stories and issues for development planning. It also involves integration and testing, testing and debugging code for integrated applications, and providing tier 2 and 3 support for deployed capabilities, including bug fixes. The developer must be able to work independently and as part of a team. The position requires a TS/SCI clearance with polygraph and is located in Annapolis Junction, Maryland.

Requirements

• TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.
• Experience with enterprise Java development.
• Experience developing service-oriented architectures.
• Experience developing microservice solutions.
• Database experience, such as MongoDB or MySQL.
• Experience with Python development.
• Fourteen years of experience as a software engineer in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university; four additional years of SWE experience on projects with similar software processes may substitute for the degree.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with Java development IDEs such as IntelliJ, Eclipse, or VS Code.
• Experience with agile development practices.
• Experience with Atlassian tools such as Jira and Confluence.
• Experience with GitLab.
• Experience with container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with geolocation applications and/or JICD.
• Experience or knowledge of ISLANDTRANSPORT and messaging infrastructure.
• Exposure to or basic familiarity with Python libraries for scientific programming, such as NumPy and pandas.
• Ability to read and write into and out of data structures adjacent to complex mathematics.

Responsibilities

• Perform integration and testing as needed.
• Test and debug software code for integrated applications.
• Provide tier 2 and 3 support for deployed capabilities and address bug fixes.
