About The Position

The Python/FastAPI Engineer will design and build RESTful APIs using Python and FastAPI, work with AWS services, and contribute to backend infrastructure and reliability. The role includes collaboration with product and cross-functional engineering teams on technical design and delivery, participation in code reviews and architecture discussions, and maintenance of technical documentation, automated tests, and monitoring for backend services.

This is a temporary project estimated to last 12+ months, with possible extensions. The position is 100% onsite at the client’s Houston, Texas site; remote work and telecommuting are not available. Candidates must be able to relocate as required. The opportunity is handled through approved staffing partners and is not available by applying directly with the client.

Requirements

• Availability to work 100% of the time onsite at the client’s Houston, Texas location; candidates must be able to relocate as required.
• 6+ years of backend engineering experience.
• 6+ years of Python experience.
• Experience with FastAPI or a comparable asynchronous Python framework.
• Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS), Amazon RDS, Amazon SQS, and Amazon S3.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with GitHub Actions and Argo.
• Experience with RESTful APIs.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with React.
• Experience with frontend frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Design and build RESTful APIs using Python and FastAPI.
• Work with AWS services including RDS, SQS, and S3.
• Contribute to and maintain infrastructure using Docker, Kubernetes, GitHub Actions, and Argo.
• Collaborate closely with product and cross-functional engineering teams on technical design and delivery.
• Participate in code reviews and architecture discussions.
• Write and maintain clear technical documentation for APIs, services, and infrastructure, including endpoint specifications, deployment steps, and configuration details.
• Build and maintain automated tests and monitoring for backend services using Python and GitHub Actions to help ensure reliability and catch issues before they reach production.
