About The Position

Peregrine Advisors is seeking a motivated Python Developer with expertise in AWS and cloud-native development. This role involves building serverless, event-driven application workflows on AWS using Lambda and Step Functions, connecting commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) products, building API connections, and creating data and document pipelines. The position requires adaptability and a capacity to learn new concepts and tools as projects evolve. The work is impactful, focusing on building cloud-native, modern systems that create business value through automation and streamlined operations. Developers will own their code from development through to production, including testing and defect correction. AI-assisted development using tools like Amazon Q Developer is the standard. This role also offers the opportunity to contribute to the firm's growth by launching new capabilities and lines of business.

Requirements

  • Sole United States citizenship
  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust determination
  • 4+ years of software development experience
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Working-level command of Python
  • Experience with modern languages and frameworks
  • Experience with version control
  • Familiarity with cloud development on Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Familiarity with continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) concepts
  • Ability to turn a defined specification into working, tested code and own it through to production
  • Basic proficiency in writing, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Clear communication skills
  • Adaptability across roles and clients
  • Focus on creating public value
  • Ability to experiment, fail, learn, and repeat quickly
  • Desire to own an outcome rather than be handed a task

Responsibilities

  • Building serverless, event-driven application workflows, cloud-native on AWS, with Lambda and Step Functions
  • Connecting commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) products into the larger system frameworks developed in-house
  • Building API connections, whether internal or external, that support modern system architectures
  • Creating data and document pipelines that make automatic what used to be manual and paper-heavy
  • Turning user stories from refinement all the way to production
  • Building cloud-native, modern systems whose streamlined, automated operation creates exceptional business value
  • Producing tested, working code that is owned all the way to production, including the defects uncovered and corrected
  • Developing automation that retires manual processes, validations, checks, and workflows
  • Implementing routine deployments, with services shipped through pipelines
  • Utilizing AI-assisted development as the default way of working, with tools like Amazon Q Developer across the entire lifecycle
  • Contributing to the firm's growth through new capabilities, tools, and lines of business
