About The Position

Peregrine Advisors is a data and technology innovation hub and a Benefit Corporation working at the center of the federal government's mission. Your first assignment will likely involve building serverless, event-driven application workflows, cloud-native on AWS, with Lambda and Step Functions; connecting commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) products into larger system frameworks; building API connections; or creating data and document pipelines. Adaptability and a demonstrated capacity to learn new concepts, systems, and tools are essential as projects complete and priorities shift. The work is real, hard, and it matters. We hire people, not seats, and move our best to where the hardest problems are. You will build cloud-native, modern systems whose streamlined, automated operation creates exceptional business value. You will own tested, working code all the way to production, including defects. You will create automation that retires manual processes and build routine deployments with services shipped through pipelines. AI-assisted development is the default way of working, with tools like Amazon Q Developer across the entire lifecycle. Over time, you will help build the firm itself by launching new capabilities, tools, and lines of business.

Requirements

• Sole United States citizenship
• Ability to obtain a Public Trust determination
• 4+ years of software development experience
• Bachelor's degree
• Working-level command of Python
• Experience with modern languages and frameworks
• Experience with version control
• Familiarity with cloud development on Amazon Web Services (AWS)
• Familiarity with continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) concepts
• Ability to turn a defined specification into working, tested code and own it through to production
• Precision to work where accuracy and auditability are not optional
• Plain-language communication about your work with the people who depend on it, explaining clearly and listening for what they need
• Matching delivery habits, meaning version control, unit and integration testing, code review, secure coding, and accessibility

Nice To Haves

• Amazon Web Services exposure or certification
• Federal information technology experience
• Familiarity with AI-assisted developer tooling

Responsibilities

• Building serverless, event-driven application workflows, cloud-native on AWS, with Lambda and Step Functions
• Connecting commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) products into the larger system frameworks developed in-house
• Building API connections, whether internal or external, that support modern system architectures
• Creating data and document pipelines that make automatic what used to be manual and paper-heavy
• Turning a defined specification into working, tested code and owning it through to production
• Developing and maintaining cloud-native, modern systems
• Implementing automation to retire manual processes
• Shipping services through pipelines
• Utilizing AI-assisted development tools like Amazon Q Developer
• Helping to launch new capabilities, tools, and lines of business for the firm
