PV Solar Field Technician Any Level - Watkins Glen Solar: Town of Dix, NY
About The Position
The PV Solar Field Technician will be based in the Western New York area and support operation and maintenance of solar PV collection assemblies, battery energy storage, and AC/DC inverters across multiple solar power plants. The role is responsible for safe, efficient, and environmentally sound plant operations, maintaining tools, shops, vehicles, and work locations in safe and efficient condition, and inspecting and troubleshooting solar arrays and inverters. Daily inspections identify fluid system breaches, mechanical component breakage or misalignment, and electrical component failures that prevent inverters from producing grid power. The technician also supports teammates in nearby states and maintains reliability, operations, and maintenance for assigned sites. The Site Technician supports the Regional Manager or designee in execution of Power Generation Division processes. Duties include safety, contractor management, electrical, electronic, and mechanical equipment operation and maintenance, overall site operations, asset management, regulatory compliance, reliability engineering, and inventory management.
Requirements
- High school graduate or GED.
- At least 3 years of experience.
- Valid non-CDL driver's license.
Nice To Haves
- Trade school graduate.
- Licensed Electrician.
- Licensed Master Electrician.
- Six Sigma Yellow Belt certification.
Responsibilities
- Perform reliability engineering and warranty management.
- Operate and perform basic maintenance on site equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical and power electronics systems.
- Steward safety and environmental programs.
- Perform supervisory duties for NextEra Energy employees and contractors.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical systems.
- Perform business duties and manage inventory.
- Operate heavy equipment.
- Maintain regulatory compliance.
- Inspect solar arrays and inverters for fluid system breaches, mechanical component breakage or misalignment, and electrical component failures.
- Maintain tools, shops, vehicles, and work locations in a safe and efficient condition.
- Support teammates in nearby states and maintain reliability, operations, and maintenance for assigned sites.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
