About The Position

The PV Solar Field Technician will support the Regional Manager or designee in executing Power Generation Division processes across solar sites. Based in the Montgomery County, New York area, the position is responsible for operating and maintaining solar PV collection assemblies, battery energy storage, and AC/DC inverters across multiple solar power plants, with the goal of safe, efficient, and environmentally sound plant operations. The technician may also support teammates at nearby sites in the region.

The role includes daily inspections and troubleshooting of solar arrays and inverters to identify fluid system breaches, broken or misaligned mechanical components, and electrical failures that prevent inverters from producing grid power. The technician maintains tools, shops, vehicles, and work locations in safe and efficient condition, and contributes to safety, contractor management, site operations, asset management, regulatory compliance, reliability engineering, and inventory management.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 2 years of experience.
• Valid non-commercial driver's license.

Nice To Haves

• Trade school graduate.
• Licensed electrician.
• Licensed master electrician.
• Six Sigma Yellow Belt certification.

Responsibilities

• Operate and perform basic maintenance on solar PV collection assemblies, battery energy storage systems, and AC/DC inverters.
• Inspect solar arrays, inverters, and related equipment for fluid breaches, mechanical breakage or misalignment, and electrical failures.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical, electronic, power-electronics, and mechanical equipment.
• Support reliability engineering and manage warranties.
• Steward safety and environmental programs.
• Supervise NextEra Energy employees and contractors as assigned.
• Support overall site operations, asset management, and regulatory compliance.
• Perform business duties and inventory management.
• Operate heavy equipment.
• Maintain tools, shops, vehicles, and work locations in a safe and efficient condition.
• Support teammates at nearby sites in the region.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
