PV Solar Field Technician Any Level - High River Solar: Amsterdam, NY
About The Position
The PV Solar Field Technician will operate and maintain solar PV collection assemblies, battery energy storage systems, and AC/DC inverters across multiple solar power plants to support safe, efficient, and environmentally sound plant operations. The position is based in the Montgomery County, New York area and supports assigned sites as well as teammates in nearby states in the region. The technician supports the Regional Manager or designee in executing Power Generation Division processes. Work includes safety, contractor management, electrical, electronic, and mechanical equipment operation and maintenance, troubleshooting, site operations, asset management, regulatory compliance, reliability engineering, and inventory management. The role also involves maintaining tools, shops, vehicles, and work locations in safe and efficient condition. Daily inspections identify fluid system breaches, mechanical component breakage or misalignment, and electrical component failures that could prevent inverters from producing grid power.
Requirements
- High school graduate or GED.
- At least 2 years of experience.
- Valid non-CDL driver's license.
Nice To Haves
- Trade school graduate.
- Licensed electrician.
- Licensed master electrician.
- Six Sigma Yellow Belt certification.
Responsibilities
- Perform reliability engineering and warranty management.
- Operate equipment and perform basic maintenance.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems and power electronics.
- Steward safety and environmental programs.
- Perform supervisory duties involving NextEra Energy employees and contractors.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical equipment.
- Perform business duties and manage inventory.
- Operate heavy equipment.
- Ensure regulatory compliance.
- Inspect solar arrays and inverters for fluid system breaches, mechanical component breakage or misalignment, and electrical component failures.
- Maintain tools, shops, vehicles, and work locations in safe and efficient condition.
- Support teammates in nearby states and maintain reliability, operations, and maintenance for sites in the assigned area.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
