About The Position

The Purchasing/Subcontracting Assistant joins Donson Machine’s purchasing team at its Alsip, Illinois location. The role supports the purchasing manager by ordering, receiving, and issuing components for jobs; updating part routings; ordering new tooling; and matching invoices to packing slips. The assistant may also take on other tasks assigned by the purchasing manager. Donson Machine is a family-owned medical device manufacturer. The company describes its workplace as focused on employee safety, learning, and personal and technical development. The schedule is a day shift, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Requirements

High school degree or equivalent.
Two years of job experience in purchasing or manufacturing is preferred.
Punctuality and an excellent attendance record.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to work in a shop environment with continuous exposure to potentially hazardous metalworking machinery and equipment, loud noises, dust, mist, oils, and solvents.
Computer literacy, including use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Nice To Haves

Two years of job experience in purchasing or manufacturing.
Blueprint-reading ability.

Responsibilities

Help the purchasing manager order, receive, and issue components for jobs.

Perform other tasks assigned by the purchasing manager.

Coordinate driver delivery and pickup schedules.
Find solutions to problems relating to subcontracting.
