About The Position

We’re continuing to grow across the region and are looking for a Purchasing Specialist to join our team in Henderson, WA. Reporting to the Procurement Manager, this role is a great opportunity for someone who wants to build their procurement career within a high‑performing, supportive team environment. You’ll play an important role in keeping our projects moving by undertaking all required operational procurement activities and assist with the delivery of sourcing and contract management activities. Working closely with experienced team members, you’ll apply your foundational procurement and supply chain knowledge to support procurement execution, supplier engagement and contract administration. A key part of the role involves using the ERP system to manage day‑to‑day purchasing transactions, while also contributing to sourcing plans, market research, supplier analysis and the preparation of procurement documentation. You’ll help maintain accurate reporting, support contract status tracking, and ensure all procurement activity aligns with Babcock’s standards and our Procurement and Supply Chain management principles. The role also works collaboratively with program project managers, quality, commercial, trade controls and other internal teams, providing support where needed and helping to resolve routine supplier queries. Requirements

  • Australian Citizen with a Defence Security Clearance (or the ability to obtain).
  • Relevant qualifications in Procurement and Supply Chain Management, Finance, Commerce, Logistics and Operations Management or related areas and/or suitable experience that provides similar competencies.
  • Previous experience in procurement, ideally within project-based or complex operational environments.
  • Demonstrated experience in running sourcing exercises (RFQ/RFI/RFT), negotiating contracts, and managing supplier relationships.
  • Familiarity with Category Management frameworks, Supplier Relationship Management (SRM), and Supplier Performance Management (SPM).
  • Experience supporting contract formation, negotiation, and lifecycle management, including risk identification and mitigation.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with experience collaborating across procurement, operations, and commercial teams.
  • Must be eligible to obtain an appropriate level of Commonwealth Personnel Security Clearance.
  • Compliance with the US International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the AU Defence Trade Controls Act 2012 will be assessed.
