About The Position

Data Guide Cable is a leading manufacturer of specialty electronic and electrical cables, offering custom solutions for a wide range of industries. We are currently seeking a Purchasing & Inventory Coordinator at our Gardner, MA location. The Purchasing & Inventory Coordinator is responsible for procuring raw materials and supplies necessary to support production schedules and ensure on-time delivery to Data Guide Cable customers. This position coordinates purchasing activities, monitors inventory levels, and collaborates with internal departments and suppliers to maintain an efficient and uninterrupted supply chain. The Purchasing & Inventory Coordinator plays a critical role in supporting manufacturing operations by ensuring materials are purchased, received, and accurately maintained within the ERP system while driving inventory accuracy and supplier performance.

Requirements

  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems, preferably Mercola.
  • Experience with purchasing, inventory management, and inventory control processes.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Knowledge of cycle counting and physical inventory procedures.
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and time management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrates professionalism, flexibility, and a customer-focused mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Procure raw materials and production supplies based on production requirements, inventory levels, material usage, forecasts, and ERP data.
  • Create, issue, and maintain purchase orders to ensure timely delivery of materials.
  • Monitor purchase order status, supplier confirmations, deliveries, and lead times while proactively communicating delays or potential shortages.
  • Coordinate with Sales, Production, Scheduling, Quality, Accounting, Warehouse, and Receiving to resolve material shortages, discrepancies, and supply chain issues.
  • Maintain optimal inventory levels to support customer demand while minimizing excess inventory.
  • Monitor incoming raw materials to ensure timely receipt and accurate inventory transactions.
  • Assist with cycle counts and physical inventories while maintaining inventory accuracy.
  • Investigate inventory discrepancies and coordinate corrective actions when necessary.
  • Communicate effectively with suppliers regarding pricing, availability, lead times, delivery schedules, and quality concerns.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing records, supplier information, and purchase order documentation.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to purchasing, inventory management, and supply chain performance.
  • Generate reports and analyze purchasing and inventory data to support operational decision-making.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
