About The Position

FORVIA is looking for a year-round Purchasing Intern for its headquarters in Auburn Hills, Michigan. The mission of the Commodity Purchasing Intern is to support, create, and organize key projects and functions that are key to the development and implementation of our commercial strategies and negotiations. This role involves working cross-functionally and cross-regionally, supporting negotiations with key suppliers, creating standardized processes, defining macroeconomic processes, collecting volume and cost details, supporting strategy building, conducting competitive analysis, performing business case analysis, presenting projects to leadership, and proposing continuous improvement ideas. The intern will also adhere to FORVIA's ethical standards and policies.

Requirements

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal and team skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerBI
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Proficient level of English
  • Working toward a degree in Business (Finance or Accounting concentration)
  • Minimum GPA: 2.8
  • Sophomore or Junior status
  • Must be able to work a minimum of 20+ hours per week (40 hours preferred)
  • Self-sufficient and self-starter

Responsibilities

  • Support, create, and organize key projects and functions for commercial strategies and negotiations.
  • Work cross-functionally and cross-regionally with diverse teams.
  • Support active negotiations with key suppliers by preparing economic analysis.
  • Create standardized processes and workflows for key economic and performance indicators.
  • Define macroeconomic process (including data management).
  • Collection of volumes and cost detail of current and future business opportunities.
  • Support strategy building within a multitude of commodities.
  • Competitive analysis development of target suppliers.
  • Business case analysis for value optimization, engineering changes, localization, and new program sourcing.
  • Presentation of multiple projects to company leadership.
  • Propose continuous improvement ideas in business efficiency and cost reduction.
  • Capitalizes on knowledge and shares best practices / lessons learned across organization and within the site.

  • All other duties as assigned by the company.
