About The Position

Meals on Wheels People is a non-profit organization dedicated to serving older adults in the Portland Metro area by providing weekly meal delivery and social connections. With a mission to ensure no adult over 60 goes hungry or experiences social isolation, the organization operates through numerous meal delivery centers and relies on staff and volunteers. Meals on Wheels People values integrity, commitment, respect, inclusion, creativity, and teamwork. This role is crucial for ensuring the Central Kitchen has the necessary inventory for meal production and order fulfillment, while also maintaining accurate data in NetSuite.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and inventory management practices.
  • Current Food Handler’s card
  • Current ServSafe certification or ability to become certified within 6 months of hire.
  • Valid Driver’s license
  • 2+ years in food purchasing or procurement; purchasing for food manufacturing preferred.
  • Strong computer skills with experience in NetSuite or other ERP systems preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and data management skills
  • Skill, motivation, and ability to effectively communicate and work with diverse populations to build a collaborative, positive, and productive work environment.
  • Responsive with great follow-through skills and ability to build trust and maintain constructive relationships across the organization.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, including the ability to set priorities and organize multiple projects.
  • Any satisfactory combination of experience, training and/or education which ensures the ability to perform the work may substitute for the above qualifications.
  • Must pass drug and alcohol test and criminal background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred

Responsibilities

  • Review production schedule, create purchase orders and place with vendors.
  • Track deliveries and ensure the Central Kitchen inventory is ready for production each day.
  • Monitor inventory levels.
  • Place purchase orders to fulfill pars as needed.
  • Coordinate with Food Production Manager and Director of Central Kitchen to avoid outages.
  • Report monthly inventory to Finance.
  • Review orders from MOWP centers and ensure that inventory is on-hand to fulfill orders.
  • Participate in NetSuite implementation at all stages: design, data migration, training and ongoing use.
  • Process transactions in NetSuite; e.g., lot codes, expiration dates, inventory adjustments, receipts.
  • Other tasks as assigned
