About The Position

The Purchasing and Receiving Clerk is responsible for the handling goods and services relative to the hotel and in particular the kitchens. The Purchasing and Receiving Clerk also maintains and organizes the hotel’s storage facilities, ensures proper distribution, and assists in implementation of key controls associated with the procurement and accounting of goods and services. Must be enthusiastic, willing to learn and take direction, and able to lift and carry heavy items, and stand for most portions of the day.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma and proficiency in basic math required.
  • The ability to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of safe food handling standards and beverage management.
  • Proficient in Windows, Company approved spreadsheets and word processing.

  • Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor at all times.

  • Effectively listen to, understand, and clarify concerns raised by employees and guests.

  • Attend all hotel required meetings and trainings.
  • Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Highgate Hotel Standards, as required by scheduling, which will vary according to the needs of the hotel.
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which include wearing nametags.
  • Comply with Highgate Hotel Standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
  • Maximize efforts towards productivity, identify problem areas and assist in implementing solutions.
  • Effectively handle problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary.
  • Understand and evaluate complex information, data, etc. from various sources to meet appropriate objectives.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Perform other duties as requested by management.
  • Keep appropriate par stock on all inventories goods.
  • Notify Purchasing Manager of any variances or deviation in par stock.
  • Ensure that all purchases, requisitions, etc. have proper approvals and all orders are place and received in accordance with Highgate Hotel’s policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local food and beverage storage laws, regulations and codes.
  • Oversee and assist in unloading, receiving, sorting, stocking, securing, and distributing goods.
  • Participate in the inventory process (monthly, quarterly, and annually).
  • Track all price changes.
  • Keep supervisor aware of any unusual occurrences and significant deviations from standards, policies and procedures.
