The Purchasing Analyst role reports to the Manager, Supplier Operations and is responsible for purchasing execution, material availability, supplier follow-up, inventory visibility, and day-to-day issue resolution. The Analyst works closely with suppliers and internal partners across Planning, Logistics, Operations, Quality, Finance, and Strategic Sourcing to ensure purchase orders are managed accurately, inbound supply is monitored, and risks are identified and escalated early. This role is focused on data accuracy, solving supply chain issues, contributing to strong service, cost, and inventory performance in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Business, Operations, or a related field is preferred; an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will also be considered.
  • 5 or more years of experience in procurement, purchasing, materials planning, supply chain, inventory management, or a related function, preferably in a manufacturing or consumer goods environment.
  • Strong understanding of purchasing processes, supplier follow-up, purchase order management, lead times, MOQ considerations, pricing tiers, and supply continuity requirements.
  • Working knowledge of inventory management concepts, including days on hand, months of coverage, inventory value, slow-moving and excess inventory, stockout risk, and inventory target tracking.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to review data, identify trends or variances, determine root causes, and recommend practical actions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and comfort working with ERP systems, reports, dashboards, and data extracts.
  • A practical problem-solving mindset with the ability to independently resolve standard purchasing, supplier, shipment, receiving, and inventory-related issues, while knowing when to escalate complex or high-risk matters.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy, documentation, and timely follow-up.
  • Effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to work professionally with suppliers and cross-functional internal teams.
  • Ability to manage changing priorities, tight timelines, order delays, and urgent supply risks with professionalism, urgency, and sound judgment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently on routine decisions and support the Manager, Supplier Operations on more complex decisions, escalations, and process improvements.

  • Primarily office-based role with occasional visits to plants or distribution centers when required to support issue resolution or gain a visual understanding of operational concerns.

Responsibilities

  • Create, manage, and monitor purchase orders and supplier agreements to support production and inventory requirements.
  • Ensure materials are delivered on time and in full by coordinating with suppliers and logistics partners.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing, supplier, pricing, and inventory data within ERP systems.
  • Monitor inventory levels, demand trends, and supply coverage to prevent shortages and minimize excess inventory.
  • Investigate and resolve purchasing, inventory, shipment, invoice, and receiving discrepancies.
  • Work closely with suppliers to expedite orders, address supply issues, and implement recovery plans when needed.
  • Support supplier onboarding, compliance documentation, and master data maintenance.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Category Management, and Production teams to ensure material availability and manage supply risks.
  • Support new product launches, product transitions, and discontinuations by aligning material supply with project timelines.
  • Participate in cross-functional planning meetings to provide updates on supply status, inventory risks, and material availability.
  • Analyze inventory and procurement metrics to identify risks, improve service levels, and optimize inventory performance.
  • Recommend and implement process improvements that enhance purchasing efficiency, data accuracy, and supply chain performance.
